Kriti Sanon’s Obsession voiceover has fans asking for more
Kriti Sanon and Varun Dhawan voice the Hindi dub of Obsession, and fans say Kriti's recreation of the viral scene proves Bollywood underuses her.

Kriti Sanon and Varun Dhawan have given Hindi movie fans a Halloween-week treat: a two-actor recreation of one of the year’s most disturbing Hollywood scenes, and a streaming premiere that puts their voices in front of a supernatural thriller.
Ahead of the OTT release of Obsession: The Original Uncut Version, JioHotstar shared a video on Thursday, October 29, in which the actors restage the film’s already viral “no no no no…” moment. Kriti plays the same notes as Nikki in the dubbed version, while Varun voices Bear; the original scene features Inde Navarrette.
What the video shows
The clip is a promotional recreation rather than a film scene, but that has not stopped fans from treating it as an audition. The Hindi dub has been brought together by filmmaker Amar Kaushik, with Kriti and Varun recruited to make the English-language thriller feel closer to home for Hindi audiences.
JioHotstar framed the release as a way to experience a story in a new language, adding that the film was being offered in its original uncut form. The stream begins at 7 pm on October 30 on The Peacock Hub.
Fans are talking about Kriti, not just the film
Much of the reaction on the video singled out Kriti. One fan wrote that her versatility “needs to be studied,” while another said Bollywood has not tapped “the FULL POTENTIAL” of her as an actor. The broader takeaway from the comments is a familiar one: Hindi cinema often slots its performers into fixed lanes, and a voice-only role can reveal a side that regular commercial parts do not.
This is why the recreation matters beyond a single premiere. Dubbing and voice acting demand rhythm, breath control and emotional precision without costumes, sets or co-stars. For an actor fighting to be seen as more than a screen persona, that can be a quietly persuasive showcase.
Why the uncut label matters
The phrase “original uncut version” is a signal for audiences who worry that streaming edits soften films. JioHotstar is using the label to promise that fans will see the thriller the way it played in cinemas, not a sanitised television cut.
There is also a bigger industry thread here: stars dubbing Hollywood releases is not new, but it has become a sharper OTT marketing move. A familiar Hindi voice can lower the resistance for audiences who would otherwise watch a film in English, and it gives the title a ready-made promo hook when the actor recreates a viral scene.
How to watch
- Stream Obsession: The Original Uncut Version on JioHotstar at 7 pm on October 30.
- Choose the Hindi dub to hear Kriti as Nikki and Varun as Bear.
- Watch the recreation clip first to see exactly what fans are responding to.
For Hindi film fans, the real test is whether the voice work holds up when the full film begins. The fan verdict on the promo is already loud.
