Mika Singh says Diljit gave Border 2 under 1% push

Mika Singh says he is proud of Diljit Dosanjh but felt Border 2 got under one per cent of the star's promotional push. Here's why fans are talking.

Mika Singh: Diljit gave Border 2 under 1% push

Mika Singh has made it clear he isn’t taking a shot at Diljit Dosanjh’s stardom. He’s asking a question plenty of Hindi film fans have whispered: why did one of the most visible Indian artists go so quiet when Border 2 arrived?

Proud, but puzzled

Speaking to Times Now, Mika described himself as a well-wisher and brother, not a critic. He said he is proud of Diljit and called him a handsome, hardworking Sikh star who has taken Punjabi music to a wider audience. But his pride comes with a pointed observation about Border 2, the Sunny Deol-led war drama set against the India-Pakistan backdrop.

“I could be wrong also, but when Border 2 came, I felt Diljit bhai did not promote even one per cent of it,” Mika said, as per India Today. He added that Diljit didn’t publicly thank Sunny Deol or director JP Dutta, and felt a film this important for India deserved far more visibility.

Not just Border 2

The singer also pointed to Imtiaz Ali’s Main Vaapas Aaunga, suggesting Diljit’s promotional energy there was limited too. His larger argument: if you work in Bollywood, it’s odd to stay silent on Bollywood releases while being active elsewhere.

Mika referenced Diljit’s social media presence around Sardaar Ji 3, which features Pakistani actor Hania Aamir, to underline the contrast. He claimed Diljit spoke about that film and Hania while not mentioning co-star Neeru Bajwa, and asked why the same visibility wasn’t given to a film he called one of India’s biggest.

The brotherly line

Even while asking the question, Mika defended Diljit strongly. He said Diljit is “our Sardar boy” and shouldn’t face trouble from pro-Khalistan protesters or threats at his concerts. To Mika, Diljit is making the country proud by carrying Punjabi music to the next level.

Mika also recalled that Diljit used his Mumbai studio for emergency recordings, and insisted he has no reason to be jealous of Diljit’s success. Here is his position in one list:

  • He is proud of Diljit’s rise and global reach.
  • He felt Border 2 got less than one per cent of Diljit’s promotional push.
  • He questioned the silence around Main Vaapas Aaunga and the lack of thanks for Sunny Deol and JP Dutta.
  • He defended Diljit against Khalistani threats and says his words are brotherly, not rivalry.

Why fans are listening

This is not just celebrity chatter. Border 2 is a big-ticket Bollywood war film, and Diljit’s presence gives it crossover appeal among Punjabi and global audiences. When a star of his reach doesn’t amplify a film, it leaves a promotional hole — and fans notice. Mika’s question repeats what many in the industry think but rarely say on record.

The conversation is less about box-office blame and more about what stars owe the projects they sign.
