Mirzapur: The Movie expected on Prime Video from Oct 30

Mirzapur: The Movie has had a solid theatrical run, and now the home-screen wait looks nearly over. A FilmiBeat report carried by The Times of India says the Pankaj Tripathi, Ali Fazal and Divyendu Sharma starrer is expected to stream on Amazon Prime Video from October 30, 2026, about eight weeks after its September 4 theatrical release.

There is one important caveat: Amazon Prime Video has not officially confirmed the date yet. Fans should treat the October 30 window as a strong signal rather than a final schedule.

Not a sequel: the film returns to Season 1

The movie does not pick up from the end of the web series. Instead, it goes back to the timeline of the first season, which is a clever re-entry point for lapsed viewers and a lower-stakes reset for newcomers.

Directed by Gurmmeet Singh and written by Puneet Krishna, the story centres on Kaleen Bhaiya and the criminal operation he controls. The balance of power in Mirzapur is thrown off when Babban Yadav, a drug lord from Jaisalmer, runs off with a major narcotics stash. That forces Kaleen Bhaiya to consider expanding his illegal drug business, and the people closest to him are pulled into a dangerous battle.

Who gets pulled into the fight

The conflict draws in the Pandit brothers and Munna Tripathi, testing loyalties and alliances. The cast list alone signals a full Mirzapur reunion, not a trimmed-down spin-off:

  • Pankaj Tripathi as Kaleen Bhaiya
  • Ali Fazal as Guddu Pandit
  • Divyendu Sharma as Munna Tripathi
  • Ravi Kishan, Rasika Dugal, Shweta Tripathi, Shriya Pilgaonkar, Abhishek Banerjee, Harshita Gaur, Rajesh Tailang, Sheeba Chaddha and Sonal Chauhan

Why this matters for Mirzapur fans

Mirzapur is one of Prime Video’s most recognisable Indian originals, so a film that fills in first-season events does more than extend the story. It gives the platform a reason to bring both old subscribers and new viewers back to the same universe. Returning to Season 1 also sidesteps the pressure of having to resolve where the series left off.

For viewers, the practical move is simple: rewatch Season 1 before you press play. The film’s power struggle will land harder if the old rivalries, family equations and debts are fresh. And because the OTT date is still unconfirmed, keep an eye on Prime Video’s official channels before making plans.
