Prahaar Friday falls 50% to Rs 60 lakh; worldwide Rs 23.76 cr
Rajkummar Rao's legal drama Prahaar slows in week two, adding Rs 60 lakh on Friday for a Rs 23.76 crore worldwide gross.

Rajkummar Rao’s legal drama Prahaar – The Ujjwal Nikam Story has entered week two on a quieter note. On Friday, 23 October, the film collected Rs 60 lakh in India net revenue from 849 shows, according to Sacnilk data cited by The Times of India.
That is a 50% fall from Thursday’s Rs 1.20 crore, and it begins what looks like a slower phase after the first week’s run.
The first week, day by day
The Avinash Arun-directed film has moved through the typical rhythm of a working-week box office:
- Thursday, 16 October: Rs 2.35 crore
- Saturday, 17 October: Rs 3.15 crore
- Sunday, 18 October: Rs 3.65 crore
- Monday, 19 October: Rs 2.00 crore
- Tuesday, 20 October: Rs 3.30 crore
- Wednesday, 21 October: Rs 1.50 crore
- Thursday, 22 October: Rs 1.20 crore
- Friday, 23 October: Rs 60 lakh
Cumulatively, the film has reached Rs 17.75 crore net in India and Rs 21.16 crore gross domestically. With overseas gross at Rs 2.60 crore after a Rs 10 lakh international Friday, the worldwide tally now stands at Rs 23.76 crore.
Why the second Friday matters
In theatrical terms, the second Friday is when a film starts proving whether it has repeat value or is simply running through its initial audience. A drop after the opening rush is expected, but the sharpness of the fall decides how many shows theatres keep. At half of Thursday’s number, the film is now in wait-and-watch territory.
The occupancy details add texture. Overall Hindi 2D occupancy was 17.35% on Friday, but the performance was uneven: morning shows managed 4.62%, afternoon 13.38%, evening 14.23%, while night shows climbed to 31.31%. The film recorded 25,806 footfalls on Friday, taking its cumulative theatrical attendance to 806,606.
Reading the numbers
It helps to separate net and gross when reading trade figures. Net India collections are the amount after entertainment taxes are deducted; gross is the pre-tax figure. So the headline worldwide gross of Rs 23.76 crore is a larger number than the domestic net of Rs 17.75 crore, and both tell slightly different stories about a film’s health.
The numbers place Prahaar in a middle zone. A Rs 17.15 crore first-week India net is respectable for a legal drama, but it is not the kind of total that guarantees a long shelf life. The second weekend will determine whether the film is remembered as a steady player or a one-week story.
The film at a glance
For those catching up, Prahaar stars Rajkummar Rao as public prosecutor Ujjwal Nikam, with Wamiqa Gabbi, Lalit Prabhakar and Jaideep Ahlawat in key roles. Lalit Prabhakar plays Ajmal Kasab in the legal drama, which revisits cases connected to the 1993 Bombay blasts and the 2008 Mumbai attacks.
What to watch next
For trade watchers, the Saturday number is the next real test. If the second weekend does not improve substantially on Friday’s Rs 60 lakh, week two will likely be about preserving screens rather than chasing a big total. If night-show occupancy keeps carrying the film, a moderate hold is still possible.
