Rajkummar Rao’s Prahaar hits ₹21.27 crore on day 13
Rajkummar Rao's courtroom drama crosses ₹21.27 crore India net on day 13, but a ₹27 lakh Wednesday and 7.12% occupancy point to a slowdown.

Rajkummar Rao’s Prahaar – The Ujjwal Nikam Story has moved past the ₹21 crore mark in India, but the day that got it there tells a quieter story. The courtroom drama added an estimated ₹27 lakh net on its second Wednesday, enough to push its 13-day total to ₹21.27 crore, according to Sacnilk figures carried by The Times of India.
The milestone arrived on a slow day
Wednesday’s performance was modest. The film screened in 1,165 shows across India, and its Hindi 2D version recorded 7.12% overall occupancy. The detailed numbers show how the day played out across show times:
- Morning: 3.38% occupancy
- Afternoon: 6.77% occupancy
- Evening: 7.85% occupancy
Evening shows were the strongest of the day, while mornings drew the thinnest audience. For a film built on courtroom tension and dialogue, the evening slot is still doing most of the work.
First-week momentum has cooled
Prahaar, directed by Avinash Arun, opened on October 16. Its first week closed at ₹17.15 crore net, with Sunday the strongest day of the opening weekend. The second Friday began modestly, improved over Saturday and Sunday, and then softened again during the working week. Tuesday stayed steady, but Wednesday fell further.
That pattern is familiar for mid-size Hindi releases: a front-loaded opening weekend followed by a second week where weekday shows have to earn their keep. The coming days will show whether Prahaar can hold on before newer releases shift audience attention.
Why this film matters to fans
The film follows Special Public Prosecutor Ujjwal Nikam through the legal battles connected to the 1993 Bombay bombings and the 2008 Mumbai attacks. Rajkummar Rao plays Nikam, with Wamiqa Gabbi as Jyoti Nikam. Lalit Prabhakar appears as Ajmal Kasab, and Jaideep Ahlawat plays Chaudhary Zulfiqar Ali.
That subject gives Prahaar a heavier dramatic register than a typical star vehicle: it is less about celebration and more about the weight of responsibility in high-profile cases. If you are planning to see it, an evening screening is currently the strongest bet for a fuller house.
