Priyanka Chopra Jonas on Good Stories and Hunkkaar: The Roar

Priyanka Chopra Jonas opens up about executive-producing Hunkkaar: The Roar and the Purple Pebble Pictures promise: good stories and new talent.

Priyanka Chopra Jonas on Good Stories and Hunkkaar: The Roar

Priyanka Chopra Jonas has always been selective about the projects she chooses, but her latest move is less about her own screen time and more about the stories she wants to help reach audiences. As an executive producer on Hunkkaar: The Roar, she is adding another title to a production slate that increasingly stands for meaningful, idea-led filmmaking.

She has carried that instinct across a career that includes a Miss World title, a Padma Shri, a National Film Award and major roles in both Bollywood and Hollywood. Producing, though, gives her a different kind of influence: a chance to shape a film from the outside in.

Priyanka’s latest credit is a quiet signal

Hunkkaar: The Roar is now streaming on JioHotstar, where it arrives with critical acclaim. Priyanka says she was drawn to the project because it takes on a deeply sensitive subject and tells it “with honesty and conviction.” She also credited the creative team—Nitya, Karan and Applause—for the thought and care they brought to the film.

Her praise of the team is notable. Rather than framing the project as a star-led vehicle, she positions it as a collaborative effort, which matches the way Purple Pebble Pictures has operated so far.

The filter behind Purple Pebble Pictures

If the slate is any guide, the house is less interested in chasing scale than in backing stories with a clear point of view. Previous credits include:

  • Ventilator (2016)
  • Pahuna: The Little Visitor (2017)
  • Sarvann (2017)
  • Firebrand (2019)
  • Anuja (2026), an Academy Award nominee

That is a deliberately mixed list—regional voices, family stories, social drama—and it points to a production identity built around a simple question: does this story need to be told?

Priyanka put the philosophy plainly. At Purple Pebble Pictures, the aim is to tell “good stories,” give new talent a chance, and still provide the audience with an entertaining experience. It is a three-part brief that explains why an actor with global reach would spend producing capital on smaller, more intimate films.

What this tells fans and future collaborators

For audiences, the practical takeaway is easy: when Priyanka Chopra Jonas is attached as a producer, pay attention to the story more than the budget. Hunkkaar: The Roar is another entry in a slate that treats film as a vehicle for meaning, not just spectacle.

Her own acting choices—including The Sky Is Pink and The Bluff—show she is willing to move between star vehicles and smaller stories without losing the thread. That consistency is rare for a performer with both a Bollywood and Hollywood footprint.

The larger picture is that a Hindi film star with global reach is still investing in films rooted in Indian stories and Indian talent. As streaming makes more room for mid-sized, idea-led films, that producer identity will likely become even more visible.
