Ramayana Targets 50,000 International Screens with 3D Trailer
Ramayana: Rise of a Legend gets a CBFC-cleared 3D trailer for cinemas next week, with 50,000+ international screens and a possible King promo tie-in.

The theatrical push for Ramayana: Rise of a Legend just got a new format. A 2-minute-26-second 3D trailer has been cleared by the Central Board of Film Certification and is set to play in cinemas next week, ahead of the film’s 5 November release.
Director Nitesh Tiwari and producer Namit Malhotra have already given fans two trailer releases and songs. This time, the aim is to sell the scale of the big screen itself.
A 3D trailer as a theatre-first strategy
The 3D clip is being positioned as more than a promo. Reports say it is central to the film’s global rollout and Tiwari’s larger vision. “The idea is to give audiences an experience that makes them want to watch the movie on the big screen. The IMAX format will be a key part of that push,” the report states.
The numbers behind that ambition are significant:
- CBFC clearance: 2 minutes 26 seconds
- In cinemas: next week, ahead of the 5 November release
- International release: more than 50,000 screens
- India release: approximately 9,000 screens
For fans, that means the trailer is designed to be seen with cinema sound and projection, not just on a phone. If you are heading to the multiplex this Diwali, this is likely to be the pitch playing before the film.
Why King could benefit from the Ramayana audience
The bigger surprise is a possible crossover with Shah Rukh Khan’s upcoming action film, King. Reports suggest a promotional video for the SRK-starrer could screen during Ramayana’s theatrical run in Indian cinemas. The idea is simple: borrow a high-intent audience that is already in the hall.
King is scheduled for 24 December, and its teaser is expected on 2 November to coincide with Shah Rukh Khan’s birthday. No official confirmation has arrived yet, so treat this as buzz rather than a locked plan.
What it means for moviegoers
For Hindi film fans, the next few weeks offer two reasons to plan a cinema trip. First, you can judge whether the Ramayana 3D trailer truly feels like an event. Second, if the King promo is attached, you might get an early look at one of December’s most anticipated releases without waiting for an online drop.
The common thread is strategic: premium formats and event-movie adjacency are doing the marketing work. It is a reminder that some experiences are still built for the hall.
