Ramayana Part 1 premiere launches two-part epic

Ranbir Kapoor's Ramayana: Part 1 gets a starry Mumbai premiere ahead of its November 5 release, kicking off a planned two-part epic.

A two-part Ramayana reaches cinemas tomorrow

Mumbai turned a film screening into a festival ahead of Ramayana: Part 1‘s November 5 worldwide release. Ranbir Kapoor, who plays Lord Ram, arrived in a maroon kurta and dark jeans, greeting photographers with folded hands. Alia Bhatt posed before a space-inspired backdrop in a grey saree with a blue border and a beaded blouse, with Neetu Kapoor beside her. Sunny Deol made his entry in a white suit.

Around them, the guest list underlined how much of Bollywood is watching this project. Lara Dutta, Kunal Kapoor, Sache Parampara, Kajal Aggarwal, Rakul Preet, Jackky Bhagnani, Vivek Oberoi and casting director Mukesh Chhabra were all spotted. Director Nitesh Tiwari attended with his wife, filmmaker Ashwiny Iyer Tiwari, and their children; Ravie Dubey came with Sargun Mehta.

What the film carries

The cast itself is a headline. Alongside Ranbir, the film stars Sai Pallavi as Goddess Sita, Yash as Ravana and Ravie Dubey as Lakshman. Prime Focus Studios produces, with DNEG and Yash’s Monster Mind Creations as key collaborators.

  • Part 1: In cinemas worldwide from November 5, 2026.
  • Part 2: Planned for Diwali 2027.
  • Scale: A VFX-heavy epic backed by eight-time Oscar-winning studio DNEG.

Why it matters for Hindi film fans

The two-part structure changes how audiences should think about the film. Part 1 is the first half of a wider arc, not a standalone retelling. If the first chapter works, the franchise has a built-in second chapter waiting in the Diwali 2027 slot.

The DNEG connection matters too. It signals that the visuals are meant to be part of the draw, not just the story. For anyone planning a cinema outing, the first part opens worldwide on November 5, and the premiere suggests the industry is treating this as a cultural moment rather than a routine Friday opener.
