Ramayana posters put Rama’s farewell to Dashrath front and centre

Nitesh Tiwari's Ramayana shares new posters of Lord Rama's farewell to Dashrath and a riverside ritual, after Kaikeyi and Manthara character reveals.

Ramayana posters put Rama's farewell to Dashrath front and centre

Nitesh Tiwari’s two-part Ramayana is building its world one emotional reveal at a time. The latest posters put Lord Rama’s farewell to King Dashrath and a solitary riverside ritual at the centre, pushing the film’s promise-versus-duty conflict ahead of spectacle.

A father bound by a promise, a son bound by duty

The first new visual shows Lord Rama, played by Ranbir Kapoor, kneeling before King Dashrath. The king is seen blessing his son as Rama prepares to leave Ayodhya for exile. It is a moment of affection and grief at once — the image leans into the sorrow of separation rather than the grandeur of the epic.

The makers’ social media caption captured that tension directly: “A father bound by a promise. A son bound by duty. Neither knew this goodbye would be their last.”

A quieter reveal: the river ritual

The second poster moves to a different emotional register. Lord Rama is shown scattering ashes into a river, surrounded by greenery. The stillness of the frame offers a glimpse of an internal journey, not just an external exile.

Fans responded quickly. Social media users praised the emotion and the detailing; one viewer wrote, “So much emotion in a Poster”.

Kaikeyi and Manthara set the plot in motion

The new images arrive after character posters for Lara Dutta as Queen Kaikeyi and Sheeba Chadha as Manthara. Their captions give the supporting players a clear role in the story.

  • Kaikeyi: “A queen. A mother. Two wishes that would betray a father’s love and change Rama’s destiny forever.”
  • Manthara: “A cunning mind. Whose whispers would turn a mother’s love into a kingdom’s darkest hour.”

In the epic, Manthara persuades Kaikeyi to claim two promises from King Dashrath: that her son Bharata become king, and that Rama spend 14 years in exile. Those demands are the hinge on which the story turns, which makes these reveals feel essential rather than decorative.

Why the emotional approach matters

A Ramayana adaptation carries enormous expectations. By foregrounding family, promise and separation, the campaign is signalling that the films will treat the source not only as spectacle but as human drama. For fans, that choice matters as much as casting or visual effects.

The two-part project stars Ranbir Kapoor as Lord Rama, Sai Pallavi as Sita, Yash as Ravana, Sunny Deol as Hanuman and Ravi Dubey as Lakshman. Nitesh Tiwari directs.

The road ahead

With character reveals arriving steadily, each new image is filling in the story’s emotional map. Watch how the campaign treats the exile itself, because the new stills suggest the film wants viewers to feel the cost of every farewell.
