Saif Ali Khan Joins Instagram, Ibrahim’s Reply Starts Banter
Saif Ali Khan's Instagram debut turned into a father-son roast after Ibrahim asked Is this you, Abba, no na? and Saif replied with a 2008 childhood photo.

Saif Ali Khan has joined Instagram, and within minutes his son Ibrahim Ali Khan turned the actor’s low-key debut into a full-blown family roast.
The debut that became a roast
Saif’s first posts showed him inside the family’s Pataudi library, a fitting setting for an actor who has never chased a loud social presence. Ibrahim, clearly enjoying the moment, dropped a comment that asked, “Is this you, Abba, no na?”
Saif’s comeback was quick and personal. He shared an old photograph of Ibrahim as a child, taken in May 2008, and asked if the little boy in the frame was him. Ibrahim played along, replying, “I guess so.”
The result felt less like a carefully planned social-media launch and more like a glimpse of the easygoing bond between the father-son duo.
Why it matters for film fans
For Hindi film fans, these unpolished moments are rare. Most celebrity Instagram debuts arrive with polished captions and brand-friendly posts, but Saif’s launch quickly turned into a family exchange where neither side was willing to give the other the last word. It also reverses the usual social-media dynamic: the younger star gently questions his father’s authenticity, and the father replies with nostalgic evidence.
The exchange is a useful reminder that celebrity social media works best when it feels human. Saif did not need a grand announcement; a library photo and a playful reply did more for his debut than a crafted caption likely would. It also gives Ibrahim a moment to show his own wit, separate from a film release.
Ibrahim wants his own path
Away from the comments section, Ibrahim has been clear about one thing: he does not want to build his acting career on the back of his parents’ legacy. In an interview with Elle, he said he wants “to build my own path as an actor” and added that he would maybe take his father’s National Award and his mother Amrita Singh’s debut “instead of mine.”
Fashion is one area where he has admitted borrowing from Saif. Ibrahim has described his father’s style as distinctive, but still, some staples have made their way into his own wardrobe:
- Jeans
- Bandanas
- Kurtas
- Jackets
- T-shirts
He has said he prefers a more modern look overall, which keeps the borrowing from becoming a full copy.
What comes next
On screen, Saif was last seen in Kartavya and Haiwaan. Ibrahim’s next release is the sports drama Diler. If the first Instagram exchange is any sign, followers can expect more Pataudi banter between now and then.
