Salman Khan’s Maatrubhumi Trailer May Drop This Friday
Reports say the Maatrubhumi trailer could arrive this Friday in Mumbai, timed to Ramayana's opening weekend. Here's what we know and haven't confirmed.

Salman Khan’s war drama Maatrubhumi: May War Rest In Peace could finally show its first big look this week. Reports suggest the makers are planning a trailer launch in Mumbai on Friday, timed to the weekend that Ramayana: Rise of a Legend has opened in theatres.
There’s just one catch: the production house hasn’t confirmed anything yet. Variety reports that a promotional event is in the works, but the schedule and venue haven’t been locked in. Treat the Friday date as a strong possibility, not a done deal.
The timing play
Why park a trailer launch right next to Ranbir Kapoor’s Ramayana? Because the epic is pulling moviegoers to screens, and that attention is free fuel. A Friday event would place Salman’s film in the middle of a conversation that’s already happening — from early-morning shows to the towering Ravana cutout celebrated in Bengaluru.
For a war drama that needs broad awareness, borrowing a slice of the country’s biggest opening weekend is a smart, if bold, move. It meets fans who are already in a moviegoing mood, instead of asking them to switch context.
From Battle of Galwan to Maatrubhumi
The project has had a bit of an identity change. First announced in July 2025 as Battle of Galwan, with pre-production reportedly starting in 2024, the title was changed to Maatrubhumi in March 2026. The new name suggests a wider thematic canvas, though the real-life military confrontation remains at the heart of the story.
The film is inspired by the Galwan Valley clash of June 15, 2020. Salman Khan plays an Indian Army officer based on Colonel Bikumalla Santosh, and the narrative draws from the soldiers involved in that confrontation.
Timing aside, Maatrubhumi is carrying a heavy story. A film drawn from a still-raw chapter of recent history will be judged as much for its war sequences as for how it handles the real people behind them. That’s precisely why a big trailer moment matters: it’s the first test of whether the treatment feels respectful.

What fans should do now
The smart move is to wait for the production house to speak. If the Friday event is real, expect an official announcement on Salman Khan’s social channels shortly. Don’t make plans around a rumored launch — Mumbai events can shift quickly, and the team has yet to issue a statement of its own.
