Salman Khan admits post-Sultan injuries left him in bad shape at 61
Salman Khan gets candid on Koffee With Karan 9 about the injuries from Sultan that changed his physique and how he rebuilt his fitness at 61.

On the first episode of Koffee With Karan Season 9, Salman Khan did something most Hindi film heroes avoid: he talked about the physical damage behind the shirtless image, and he apologised to the fans who made that image famous.
The Sultan toll
The wrestling drama Sultan may have given him one of his most memorable transformations, but Salman described a long list of injuries that came with it.
“My head was broken; some hernia stuff was there. My shoulder was messed up.”
He added knee and back trouble, trigeminal neuralgia and an aneurysm to the list. In his telling, the injuries started a phase where he no longer looked like the star audiences had cheered in Maine Pyar Kiya, Wanted and Dabangg.
“It was unfair on them,” he said about fans of his shirtless era. “I should not have let go for that time.”
Fitness at 61 as maintenance
Now 61, Salman framed his current shape as a long game rather than a short-term transformation. His explanation was simple: hard work, sacrifices, adding good habits and cutting bad ones.
That matters because Hindi cinema still sells the idea that a hero’s body is effortless. Salman’s version is more honest—aging, injuries and discipline all sit together, and sometimes the body loses a round. For fans who grew up with his shirtless moments, the admission reads as a rare apology rather than a vanity note.
What’s next for Salman Khan
Even with the health revelations, his slate is moving.
- Mathrubhumi – directed by Apoorva Lakhia, with Chitrangda Singh; release date not announced.
- Monster – directed by Vamshi Paidipally, with Nayanthara as the female lead.
- Bigg Boss 20 – he is currently hosting.
- Raj & DK superhero film – in talks, but nothing official yet.
Salman has not signed any other projects at the moment, so these two film announcements carry extra weight for fans planning their viewing calendars.
