Shakti Shalini Holds Dec 24, 2026 Date Against SRK’s King

Shakti Shalini is sticking to its December 24, 2026 release despite a face-off with Shah Rukh Khan's King, setting up a Christmas Eve box office clash.

Shakti Shalini Keeps Dec 24 Date Against King

Shakti Shalini is holding its ground. Aneet Padda’s horror-comedy remains dated for December 24, 2026, putting it on a direct collision course with Shah Rukh Khan’s King on Christmas Eve.

The date has not moved

Earlier trade chatter suggested the makers might push the film into 2027 to avoid a face-off with King. But a promotional video for Shakti Shalini, screened with Prahaar, still carried December 24, 2026 as the release date, according to a Free Press Journal report carried in the coverage.

For weeks, the expectation in film circles was that a smaller film would make way. Aneet Padda’s horror-comedy, however, is now being treated as firm on its date, which changes the conversation from “will it move?” to “can it coexist?”

A clash the trade is watching

Shah Rukh Khan’s King is expected to dominate the holiday frame and draw large crowds. That makes the decision to stay put a confident one for a smaller film — and a real test of counterprogramming, where a distinct genre tries to win the audience that wants something different on the same weekend.

For context:

  • Shakti Shalini is Aneet Padda’s second film after Saiyaara, opposite debutant Ahaan Panday.
  • It is the sixth installment in Dinesh Vijan’s horror-comedy universe.
  • Aditya Sarpotdar directs; the IMDb listing names Nana Patekar, Vishal Jethwa, Vineet Kumar Singh, Seema Biswas and Soham Majumdar among the cast.

Why the date matters for the franchise

Six films in, the horror-comedy universe has become a dependable audience draw, with a tone that mixes scares and laughs. Shakti Shalini carries that identity into a holiday frame, where family audiences often decide at the last minute. Staying on December 24 gives the film a festive runway rather than waiting for a quieter 2027 window.

It also gives the film a clear marketing hook: the only major Hindi horror-comedy landing on Christmas Eve, opposite a big-ticket star vehicle. That clarity can help a film with a younger, genre-aware audience find its own lane.

If it works, it strengthens the case that genre franchises do not always have to run from a larger title. If it struggles, the trade will likely read the clash as a cautionary tale.

Cast responds to the delay talk

Vishal Jethwa, part of the ensemble, was reported to have addressed the rumours at FICCI FRAMES 2026 with a laugh: “Maine bhi sune hain rumours” (even I have heard such rumours).

For fans, the hold means Christmas Eve offers two very different Bollywood experiences: a superstar-led spectacle and a horror-comedy from a universe that has built its own audience. If the date stands, the box office will tell us whether a niche genre film can find room beside a King-sized opener.
