Sunny Deol’s Suryaa First Look Sets November 20 Release
Sunny Deol unveils a raw, brooding first look for Suryaa: Ant Se Aarambh Tak, a Hindi adaptation of Malayalam thriller Joseph, releasing November 20.

Sunny Deol has shared the first glimpse and motion poster of Suryaa: Ant Se Aarambh Tak, and it feels like a deliberate shift in gear. The image shows him with a weathered face, a hard stare and a cigarette, framed by the tagline, “Torn between his past and present, he uncovers the truth.” The crime thriller will hit cinemas on November 20.
What the first look tells us
This is not the broad, chest-thumping action hero viewers remember. The poster leans into noir, signalling buried secrets and an unsettled conscience. Deol reportedly plays a retired police officer pulled back into an investigation that makes him confront old wounds.
- Release date: November 20
- Director: Malayalam filmmaker M Padmakumar, in his Bollywood debut
- Source material: Hindi adaptation of the 2018 Malayalam thriller Joseph
- Cast: Ravi Kishan, Pragya Jaiswal, Jisshu Sengupta, Tinu Anand, Manish Wadhwa and Tanushree Chakraborty, among others
A remake with a pedigree
Suryaa is adapted from Joseph, the critically acclaimed 2018 Malayalam thriller written by Shahi Kabir. That detail matters. The original was admired less for spectacle than for its emotional weight and moral ambiguity, so the film could sit closer to a brooding crime drama than a conventional mass entertainer.
The title translates to “From End to Beginning,” and the themes the team has flagged are justice, moral conflict and the cost of unresolved truths. For Deol, it is another intense part after years of leaning on action-hero nostalgia.
Why it matters for fans
A November 20 release positions the film as one more dark, twisty title on the calendar. Presented by Kamal Mukut and produced by Deepak Mukut, Hemmant Mukut and Lokesh Mukut under MM Moviez, with Zee Music Company handling the music, Suryaa has the pieces to feel like more than a date announcement. The real test will be the trailer, but the first look already makes a specific promise: a slower, darker Sunny Deol.
