Chiranjeevi Seeks Film Body Cell Over Chuttamalle Deepfake
Chiranjeevi condemns an AI-morphed Devara clip and asks Telugu film bodies to set up a support cell for victims and legal follow-up.

A manipulated clip from Devara: Part 1 has pushed Chiranjeevi to call for an industry-wide response on AI misuse. The video digitally altered Janhvi Kapoor’s appearance in the song Chuttamalle, also featured Jr NTR, and had circulated on social media before being taken down.
Why Chiranjeevi is treating this as more than one video
In a post on X, Chiranjeevi called AI-generated content targeting women “cruel, shameful and completely unacceptable.” His argument was direct: this is not an issue about one actor or one film. Today it has happened to someone else; tomorrow, he warned, it could happen to any of us.
He also said that people who create, share or amplify such content should face legal consequences, and that the episode must not be dismissed as a joke or entertainment.
A support cell, not just a statement
Chiranjeevi said he will take the matter to the Telugu Film Chamber, the Producers’ Council and affiliated industry bodies. He wants the industry to set up a dedicated committee and support cell that works with cybercrime authorities.
That cell would have a clear job: help those affected, coordinate removals, and pursue legal action against those responsible. The proposal matters because a support cell gives people a place to go before a clip spreads further. Takedowns are often slow, and a formal team can coordinate with platforms and police more effectively than an individual artist can.
What fans can actually do
Chiranjeevi also addressed audiences directly. Even people who mean well can make the problem worse by sharing the clip while condemning it, he said. Instead, he asked fans to:
- Report the video to social media platforms and cybercrime authorities.
- Avoid watching, downloading or circulating it.
- Treat AI misuse as a legal and safety issue, not as gossip.
He also appealed to central and state governments to take stronger measures against AI misuse.
The wider context
Jr NTR had earlier condemned the same video, calling it “disgusting, sick and shameless.” Devara: Part 1, released in September 2024, stars Jr NTR and Janhvi Kapoor, and Chuttamalle — composed by Anirudh Ravichander and sung by Shilpa Rao — became one of the film’s most popular tracks.
Because the clip pulls a Telugu film’s song into a Hindi-facing conversation through Janhvi Kapoor, it sits at the crossover between southern and Bollywood audiences. For Hindi film fans, the signal is clear: the next manipulated clip may involve a favourite from any industry, so the response needs to be shared.
Chiranjeevi’s larger message is that dignity needs a system behind it. A single takedown is not enough; industry response, victim support and legal follow-through are what determine whether this becomes a turning point.
