Sree Vishnu’s Comrade Kalyan Opens October 9 as a Jungle Comedy
Director Janaki Ram Marella on the dense Agumbe shoot, Sree Vishnu's comic strength and the risky real locations ahead of the October 9 release.

Telugu star Sree Vishnu’s next release, Comrade Kalyan, is set for a grand theatrical arrival on October 9. Directed by Janaki Ram Marella, the film pairs Sree Vishnu with Mahima Nambiar, with Radhika and Satya in key roles. Venkata Krishna Karnati and Seeta Karnati produce the film, which is presented by Kona Venkat.
The title hides a crowd-pleasing comedy
Despite the political-sounding title, director Janaki Ram Marella made it clear at a promotional press meet that the film is being positioned as a full-length entertainer. He said the title Comrade Kalyan grew directly out of the story, not from a separate branding exercise. At the centre is Sree Vishnu, whose biggest strength, the director believes, is comedy. The story follows a man who lands in an unexpected problem and the trouble that follows, all shaped through an entertaining lens.
Why the team risked a real forest
For a comedy, the shoot took an unusually demanding turn. Key portions were filmed in the dense forests of Agumbe near Mangaluru, and the director said the decision was a deliberate risk. On the very first day, Marella said he narrowly escaped a major accident. The cast and crew continued to work under tough conditions because the script demanded authenticity.
The director explained that today’s audiences want natural storytelling and real, story-appropriate environments. He credited hero Sree Vishnu, the producers and presenter Kona Venkat for backing the scale of the shoot.
Sree Vishnu’s commitment on set
Marella reserved strong praise for his leading man. Sree Vishnu trekked about three kilometres just to complete one shot, he said, and brought constant improvisation to his role. The filmmaker added that Sree Vishnu paid attention to every detail and trusted the director and the story completely. In the director’s words, he considers the actor “equal to God.”
Supporting cast and music
The supporting performances are also being highlighted in the run-up to release. Radhika appears as a fan of actor Balayya and also plays a crucial mother character. Satya was written into the script from the start, and the director says he was the first name thought of for that role. The film carries four songs, and the music has already been receiving a positive response from listeners.
