Dil Raju Calls Ranbir ‘Ranveer’ at Ramayana Event, Apologises
Producer Dil Raju's on-stage Ranbir-Ranveer mix-up at the Ramayana event went viral, even as he revealed the film's distribution plan and release date.

At a Hyderabad event for Nitesh Tiwari’s Ramayana: Part I (The Rise of the Legend), producer-distributor Dil Raju set out to praise Ranbir Kapoor’s craft and accidentally addressed him as “Ranveer Singh.” He caught himself immediately and added a polite “sorry, Ranbir Kapoor Garu,” while the actor stayed straight-faced as cameras zoomed in.
Why the slip took over social media
The Ranbir-Ranveer confusion is one of Bollywood’s longest-running fan jokes, so the clip travelled within minutes. Fans on X treated it as the most relatable moment of a high-stakes launch. “Ho jaata hai kabhi kabhi flow flow me,” one user wrote, while another added, “Ye sabko confusion hai.”
What made it better than a planned gag is that it happened during a genuinely important announcement. In an era of tightly managed film promotions, the slip became the most talked-about beat of an otherwise polished event.
The real news underneath the laughter
Dil Raju used the platform to lay out the film’s distribution map:
- North India: Karan Johar
- International markets: Sony Pictures
- Telugu-speaking states: Dil Raju’s production banner
- Worldwide theatrical release: 5 November 2026
He also noted that Ramayana marks his third collaboration with Ranbir in the Telugu region, after Brahmastra: Part One – Shiva (2022) and Animal (2023). For an epic of this scale, an unscripted human moment has done what a sizzle reel rarely can: it made the launch feel spontaneous and shareable.
A mega-cast finally locking into frame
The two-part adaptation of Valmiki’s text stars Ranbir as Lord Rama, Sai Pallavi as Sita, Yash as Ravana, Ravie Dubey as Lakshman and Sunny Deol as Lord Hanuman. It also brings in Lara Dutta, Kajal Aggarwal, Rakul Preet Singh, Anupam Kher, Vivek Oberoi and Kunal Kapoor in key roles.
The takeaway for fans is simple: the marketing machine is now in motion, the Telugu-market run is confirmed, and the date to circle is 5 November 2026. And the next time someone mixes up the Ranbirs, remember that even the producers do it on stage.
