Jailer 2 Kerala advance booking hits Rs 1.61 crore in an hour
Kerala fans rushed to book Jailer 2 tickets, pushing advance sales to Rs 1.61 crore in an hour before the October 15 release.

Kerala has given Jailer 2 a head start before the first show even opens. The makers confirmed that advance bookings in the state crossed Rs 1.61 crore within just one hour of going live, setting a lively pace ahead of the Rajinikanth-starrer’s worldwide theatrical release on October 15. Directed by Nelson Dilipkumar, the sequel is expected to open across approximately 800 screens in Kerala alone.
What the one-hour number tells us
An early figure like this is useful because it measures intent. Fans are not waiting for reviews; they are locking in seats on star power, franchise goodwill and the film’s regional casting. According to On Manorama, the strongest response has come from Kochi, Thiruvananthapuram, Kozhikode, Thrissur, Kannur and Kottayam, which means demand is spread across the state rather than concentrated in one city.
- Rs 1.61 crore: Kerala advance sales recorded within the first hour
- 800 screens: expected to showcase the film across the state
- October 15: scheduled worldwide theatrical release
- Six cities: Kochi, Thiruvananthapuram, Kozhikode, Thrissur, Kannur and Kottayam leading early sales
Mohanlal, Malayalam talent and the local pull
Kerala has an extra reason to turn up: Mohanlal. His cameo in the first Jailer was one of its most appreciated surprises, and his presence in the sequel gives Malayalam moviegoers a familiar face at the centre of a Tamil biggie. The wider Malayalam cast includes Suraj Venjaramoodu, Sunil Sugada, Sujith Shankar, Hakim Shah, Vineeth Thattil, Rajesh Madhavan, Mirnaa, Anna Reshma Rajan and Shamna Kasim.
Kottayam Nazeer, who has a pivotal role, added to the warmth around the film when he told Reporter about meeting Rajinikanth on set. He gave the superstar a book of his paintings and said Rajinikanth looked through the pages and “spoke about it with great enthusiasm.” Nazeer described the whole experience as feeling like a dream.
What the advance rush may and may not prove
Advance sales are a strong opening indicator, but they are not the box office. A film can put up impressive pre-sales on the strength of a star cast and a couple of well-cut promos, then settle quickly if the content does not hold. The real test begins on October 15, when the film opens and word of mouth starts competing with the hype.
For Hindi film fans watching the southern circuits, Jailer 2 is also a reminder of how pan-Indian releases now use local casting and language-specific promotion to activate separate markets. Kerala is not a peripheral territory here; it is being treated as a core opening market, and the early response suggests that strategy is working.
By the time the first shows conclude on October 15, the picture will be clearer. Until then, the one-hour Kerala number gives the sequel exactly what it wants before release: momentum.
