Koffee With Karan 9 Final Season: 22 Years, One Last Cup

Karan Johar’s talk show begins its ninth and final season on JioHotstar on October 14, with Salman Khan on the couch and a Karisma Kapoor surprise.

Koffee With Karan serves its final cup after 22 years

The couch that gave Bollywood fans two decades of rapid-fire questions, star-filled gossip and headline-grabbing revelations is serving one last round. Koffee With Karan returns for its ninth and final season on JioHotstar on October 14, 2026, at 7 pm IST, with Salman Khan opening the season.

How to watch the final season

After 22 years, eight seasons and 161 episodes, Karan Johar’s talk show is signing off. The premiere streams on JioHotstar at 7 pm IST on October 14. The season brings back the familiar mix: candid conversations, personal questions, celebrity anecdotes and the playful back-and-forth that made the show appointment viewing.

Salman Khan takes the couch solo in the opening episode. Karisma Kapoor is also reported to make a surprise appearance, according to Variety India, though the length of her segment is not yet clear.

Salman’s return to the couch

Salman has history with the show. He appeared in Season 4 with his father, screenwriter Salim Khan, and in the 100th episode during Season 5 with brothers Arbaaz and Sohail Khan. This time he is alone, and the promos lean into his easy banter with Johar.

In a teaser released on October 12, Salman walks onto the set and says, “I am coming on Koffee With Karan.” When Johar points out that it is the finale season and “this can go anywhere,” Salman replies, “Kahin bhi ja sakta hai” — it can go anywhere. A separate promo revives an old question, “Are you still a virgin?”, and Salman answers, “Control bro.”

Why the farewell matters

The show began in 2004 with Shah Rukh Khan and Kajol as its first guests. Karan Johar has said the idea was discussed with his father, producer Yash Johar, who died in June 2004, and that he filmed the first episode on August 16 that year. Announced in late September 2026, the final season closes a loop that has given viewers as much controversy as conversation — including Johar’s own line that he is still “living with the word nepotism even today.”

What to expect beyond the premiere

The final season is expected to feature star-studded couch pairings, including Alia Bhatt, Shaheen Bhatt, Vijay Deverakonda and Rashmika Mandanna. Salman, meanwhile, has Maatrubhumi: May War Rest in Peace and the Eid 2027 action entertainer Monster on his slate.

For viewers, the premiere is the last first episode of a format that made Bollywood feel closer — and occasionally more chaotic. Here’s what to keep an eye on:

  • The tone Salman sets: solo, unfiltered and clearly comfortable with Johar.
  • What Karisma Kapoor’s surprise appearance adds to the premiere.
  • How Johar frames the farewell in his opening and closing remarks.
