4 Indian OTT Releases Arrive This Week

From two Malayalam crime thrillers to a Telugu rom-com and Prithviraj's Khalifa, here's what to stream on SonyLIV, Netflix and Prime Video.

4 New Indian OTT Releases to Stream This Week

Your weekend watchlist just got a serious upgrade. On October 9, four Indian titles landed across SonyLIV, Netflix and Prime Video, spanning crime, psychology, young love and family legacy. For Hindi film fans who track everything from Malayalam thrillers to Telugu rom-coms, this is the kind of multi-platform drop that rewards a little planning.

The common thread is strong casting. Kani Kusruti and Parvathy Thiruvothu lead two very different police investigations, Anand Deverakonda and Vaishnavi Chaitanya bring a London romance, and Prithviraj Sukumaran anchors an action drama with a gold-trading mystery at its centre.

Two Malayalam thrillers set the tone

Eyes premiered on SonyLIV on October 9. Kani Kusruti stars as Tina Sebastian, a police officer investigating stalking incidents involving women. What separates it from a standard procedural is the show’s interest in the stalker’s mind. Director Manu Ashokan keeps the focus on control, fixation and the small boundaries people cross before behaviour turns dangerous.

Pradhama Drishtiya Kuttakkar began streaming on Netflix on the same day. Parvathy Thiruvothu plays Aleena Abraham, a newly recruited officer and mother whose life shifts after a fatal incident at her station. When investigator Harris Meeran starts pulling at the clues, a possible cover-up emerges, and the film becomes a psychological contest between two people who each believe they are chasing the truth. The team has leaned into a Drishyam vibe, which is a promise—and a risk—for audiences who love a twist-driven investigation.

A light romance and a heavy legacy

Epic – First Semester is the week’s palette cleanser. Anand Deverakonda’s Aditya moves to London for a master’s degree and meets Kadali, played by Vaishnavi Chaitanya. The two enter a nine-month arrangement, but feelings complicate what started as simple. The Telugu romantic comedy is really about timing: love doesn’t automatically reconcile two people’s separate ambitions.

Khalifa: The Ruler, streaming from October 9 on Prime Video and other platforms, is the most high-profile gamble of the week. Prithviraj Sukumaran plays Aamir Ali, a textile shop owner whose ordinary life unravels when a gold-trading case tied to his father pushes him into his estranged grandfather’s world of money, influence and rivalries. Despite the scale and the star’s pull, the Vysakh directorial has earned largely critical and audience responses on the disappointment side.

Your streaming order

  • For a twisted investigation: Begin with Pradhama Drishtiya Kuttakkar on Netflix.
  • For a psychological stalker drama: Queue up Eyes on SonyLIV.
  • For a soft romance: Choose Epic – First Semester on Netflix.
  • For Prithviraj only: Keep Khalifa: The Ruler for a low-pressure afternoon.

There’s a larger takeaway for the industry too. Three of these four releases lean on investigation or psychological tension, suggesting that streaming audiences are still hungry for twist-first, character-driven Indian stories. The outlier, Khalifa, is a reminder that an exciting logline and a credible star need execution to deliver word of mouth. For now, the Malayalam thrillers are the conversation starters, and Epic – First Semester is the safe date-night pick.
