Sara Arjun in talks for Ram Charan-Sukumar’s RC17: report
Sara Arjun is reportedly in early talks for the female lead in Ram Charan and Sukumar's RC17, with a Hyderabad launch and 2028 release reportedly in the works.

Ram Charan and Sukumar’s long-awaited follow-up to Rangasthalam is beginning to take shape, at least in the reports. The tentatively titled RC17 is now said to be in early casting conversations with Dhurandhar actor Sara Arjun for the female lead, opposite Ram Charan.
The casting conversation
According to a Telugu 360 report carried by The Times of India, the makers of RC17 have approached Sara Arjun and are keen to bring her on board. There is no signed agreement yet, and a formal announcement from the production house has not been made.
If the talks do convert, the project would place Sara alongside one of Telugu cinema’s most bankable stars in a Sukumar-directed film. For Hindi film fans who discovered Ram Charan through RRR, a Sukumar project is a chance to watch him in a more rooted, character-driven zone. Rangasthalam was appreciated for exactly that shift, and RC17 is expected to be designed with similar patience.
What the reports say is lined up
Here is what is being reported, not yet confirmed:
- A launch ceremony in Hyderabad on October 20, 2026
- Principal photography expected to begin in December 2026
- Mythri Movie Makers backing the project
- A theatrical release targeted for 2028
The script is reportedly ready and pre-production is moving ahead. Even so, the producers have not officially announced the launch, schedule, cast, or release date.
Why a Sukumar-Ram Charan reunion lands differently
Their last collaboration, Rangasthalam, was a major hit and remains a reference point for rural drama done at scale. Ram Charan is also returning after a break: he reportedly took time off after Peddi to recover from an injury that required surgery, and he is said to be working on his physique for this role.
That matters for audiences because RC17 is not another quick assembly. It arrives with the weight of a proven actor-director pairing and an expectedly long production runway to 2028.
The music chair is still open
There is also speculation about who will score the film. Anirudh Ravichander and Shashwat Sachdev are both reportedly in the mix. Sukumar has frequently worked with Devi Sri Prasad, so a new music partner would itself be a talking point. Shashwat’s recent work includes Dhurandhar, which adds a layer of intrigue to the Sara Arjun link.
What to watch for next
Until Mythri Movie Makers issues an official statement, this is an early conversation rather than a locked cast. The reported October 20 launch event is the first realistic moment for clarity on the cast, crew, and likely music director. If you are keeping score at home, do not bundle the speculation in with confirmed news.
