Suriya’s Scene bets on 6 big moments for Diwali release
Suriya asked Scene fans to skip the theories; Nazriya marked her Tamil comeback, and the team counted six big second-half moments for the Diwali release.

Days before Scene arrives in cinemas on November 6, the audio and trailer launch doubled as a sales pitch, a family tribute and a gentle request from Suriya: leave the online theories outside the theatre.
Distributor Sakthivelan of Sakthi Film Factory watched the film early and positioned it as a blend of crime, thriller and comedy. He said it takes off quickly and reaches a high with the interval block, then delivers what he counted as six major theatrical moments in the second half. Suriya later did something unusual: he asked the audience not to bring those expectations into the cinema.
- Crime, thriller and comedy combined as a dark comedy
- A fast start and a distributor-approved interval block
- Six major theatrical moments in the second half
- Naslen as an antagonist, Nazriya’s Tamil return after 12 years, and a Singam dialogue in a dark-humour setting
What the cast revealed
Naslen, who plays the antagonist, admitted he was nervous opposite Suriya because he has admired the star for years, but said the experience made him happy. Asked whether his quietness was real or part of the act, he joked that his character is not fully bad and is rather innocent.
Nazriya, returning to Tamil cinema after 12 years, said the collaboration was a dream come true. She revealed she had missed earlier chances to work with Suriya and was happy the first one arrived through Jithu Madhavan’s film.
Karthi offered a useful framing for the year. He compared Suriya’s three releases to the stretch when Kaakha Kaakha, Pithamagan and Aayutha Ezhuthu arrived together. He said Karuppu and Vishwanath and Sons were contrasting experiences, but Scene is an entirely unexpected dark comedy. He also enjoyed seeing Suriya’s Singam dialogue placed in a dark-humour setting.
Skip the speculation
Director Jithu Madhavan addressed the theories around the film directly. With three teasers and a trailer already out, he asked viewers to judge from official material instead of fan speculation. He said he did not want to add to the existing hype. On casting Naslen as a villain, he joked that he never looked at him as a romantic hero.
For Hindi film fans who follow Suriya across industries, that stance matters. Online theorising can set up expectations a film never intended to meet.
Suriya’s Diwali request
Suriya called the year important because three of his films reached theatres, and recalled Maayavi, Ghajini and Aaru releasing in the same year earlier in his career. He described Scene as
murder, mystery, madness and laughter
and asked people to approach it with an open mind.
He also thanked the teams of Ramayana and Mookuthi Amman 2 for making room during the Diwali window, and Dhanush for postponing OM after learning about Scene’s release plans. His most personal moment was about wife Jyotika, whom he credited for guiding him through life and standing by him. He called her the best mother, friend and life partner.
