Spirit moves to Oct 29, 2027, setting up Ramayana 2 clash

Prabhas and Sandeep Reddy Vanga shift Spirit from March 5 to October 29, 2027, putting it on a collision course with Ramayana 2 this Diwali.

Spirit shifts to Oct 29, 2027; Ramayana 2 clash looms

Prabhas and Sandeep Reddy Vanga have moved the cop action drama Spirit out of its March 2027 slot and into the Diwali corridor. The new worldwide release date is October 29, 2027.

A date reveal dressed as a poster drop

Vanga had primed fans on social media, promising a new poster “featuring the man behind the shades” with a fresh release date. The image landed with Prabhas in a cap and dark sunglasses, and the filmmaker confirmed the new date in typical all-caps style.

“29TH OCTOBER DIWALI 2027. Worldwide RELEASE DATE,” Vanga wrote.

The previous date was March 5, 2027. That move has immediate implications for the wider release calendar.

A festive collision nobody can ignore

October 29, 2027 sits inside the Diwali window. So does the planned release of Nitesh Tiwari’s Ramayana 2, starring Ranbir Kapoor as Lord Rama and Yash as Ravana.

The first Ramayana instalment is set for November 5, 2026. If the sequel holds its Diwali 2027 date, the season will host two of the biggest pan-India titles in production.

What we know about Spirit

  • Lead: Prabhas as a police officer with “one bad habit”.
  • Cast: Triptii Dimri, Vivek Oberoi and Prakash Raj in key roles.
  • Director: Sandeep Reddy Vanga, of Arjun Reddy, Kabir Singh and Animal.
  • Look: A first look at the end of 2025 showed Prabhas bruised and rugged, with Triptii Dimri in the promotional material.

Why the shift matters

Diwali is a crowded, high-reward window. Moving from a relatively open March date to the festival corridor signals confidence, but it also raises the stakes: a direct collision with a big-budget epic would split screens, IMAX shows and audience attention.

There is also a knock-on effect around Prabhas’s other project. A Variety India report noted that Fauzi, the Hanu Raghavapudi-directed period action drama, could move from its expected window and is reportedly being looked at for March 18, 2027, after initially aiming for December 2026.

None of this is locked until the makers confirm. If both films stay put, theatre chains will face a familiar dilemma around premium screens and showtimes. For fans, it means a festival choice between an original cop drama and a mythological sequel. For producers, it may come down to who blinks first.
