Vidyut Jammwal’s Street Fighter Opens No. 1 With $51M Globally
Vidyut Jammwal's Street Fighter tops the North American box office with a $51 million global opening, while the Elizabeth Holmes documentary stuns.

Vidyut Jammwal’s Street Fighter opened at No. 1 in North America this weekend, taking an estimated $31 million from 3,575 theatres and combining with international markets for a $51 million global start.
The Paramount release, a big-budget adaptation of the video game series, carried a reported $82 million production cost before marketing. Its opening audience leaned male at 69%.
For Indian film fans, the moment matters. It puts a familiar Bollywood action star at the centre of a major Hollywood franchise launch, with a No. 1 domestic finish to show for it.
A solid global opening
The $31 million domestic estimate came from studio figures on Sunday. International showings added about $20 million, lifting the worldwide total to $51 million. It topped the chart as expected, but its real test will come in the weeks ahead as word of mouth and repeat viewing decide whether the $82 million price tag looks manageable.
The weekend’s other winner
Most of the cultural conversation belonged to You Can See Everything, A24’s nearly three-hour Elizabeth Holmes documentary made in secret over three years. It took $15 million from just 855 screens, produced more than 2,000 sellouts, and became the biggest opening for a film on under 1,000 screens since Borat in 2006.
It is also the biggest non-music documentary opening in two decades. Directed by Nathan Fielder and Lance Oppenheim, the film drew more than 70% of its audience from under-35s and holds a 99% Rotten Tomatoes score. That combination of critical heat and scarce supply turned a limited release into a rare event. It reportedly cost under $7 million to make and less than $10 million to market.
Weekend snapshot
- Street Fighter — $31M domestic / $51M global
- You Can See Everything — $15M from 855 screens
- Other Mommy — $8.4M second weekend / $44.9M total

Expensive bets and quiet records
Disney’s $60 million survival thriller Whalefall, starring Austin Abrams and Josh Brolin, opened with $8 million in the U.S. and Canada and $17.5 million globally, despite reviews that were better than Street Fighter. Jessica Chastain’s Other Mommy added $8.4 million in its second weekend for a domestic total of $44.9 million.
Elsewhere, Sense and Sensibility collected $7.3 million from 2,545 theatres with an audience that was 84% female and 58% aged 14 to 18. Netflix shared theatrical numbers for La Bola Negra for the first time: $277,500 from four locations. Alex Gibney’s Musk expanded to 472 screens with $306,702 while its distributor said TikTok suspended the film’s ad account.
Overall, North American ticket sales reached about $101.6 million, up 45% from the same weekend last year. The year-to-date total stands at $8.2 billion, up almost 20% from 2025.
