Spirit may miss March 5, 2027 release: report

Trade reports suggest Spirit may miss its March 5, 2027 release, while Fauzi also shifts its reported slot. No new date is confirmed yet.

Spirit may miss its March 5, 2027 theatrical release

Prabhas and Sandeep Reddy Vanga’s cop action drama Spirit may not keep its March 5, 2027 release date. Trade reports suggest the film is being considered for a later release window, but the makers have not confirmed a delay or announced a replacement date.

What the trade is saying

A Variety India report, carried by The Times of India, says the schedule may have changed since the team last spoke publicly. Earlier this year, the producers had locked March 5, 2027 as the theatrical date. In August, Vanga said the project was on track, with 40 days of shooting complete and around 65 days still remaining.

The latest buzz points to a later window. The specific reasons behind the reported postponement remain unclear, which means March 5 is still the only officially announced date for Spirit.

It is worth repeating that this is a report, not an official statement. Release dates in Indian cinema shift frequently, and the last word on Spirit will come from the production team, not the trade.

Why the release calendar matters

The timing is tricky because another Prabhas title is also moving. Fauzi, directed by Hanu Raghavapudi, was initially expected in December 2026 and is now reportedly being targeted for March 18, 2027. If both reported dates stick, two large-scale Prabhas films would land barely two weeks apart.

That is not a small problem for a pan-India star. Prabhas still has Kalki 2898 AD Part 2 and Salaar Part 2 in the pipeline, so a change in one date can put pressure on everything else around it. Avoiding self-competition matters for fans too: two films from the same star in a fortnight can split audience attention and repeat viewing, and exhibitors may prefer more breathing room between big titles.

  • Spirit: announced for March 5, 2027; no replacement date confirmed.
  • Fauzi: earlier expected December 2026; now reportedly March 18, 2027.
  • Production status: Vanga’s August update said 40 days were complete and 65 remained.

What Spirit promises

Spirit is the first collaboration between Prabhas and Vanga, a director best known to Hindi audiences for Animal. Prabhas plays a police officer with “one bad habit”, and the cast includes Triptii Dimri, Vivek Oberoi and Prakash Raj. The first look, released at the end of 2025, showed Prabhas in a rugged, bruised avatar with Triptii Dimri beside him.

What fans should do

For now, keep release-day plans loose. There is no official replacement date for Spirit, and Fauzi’s reported March 18 slot is also unconfirmed by its makers. Watch for two official statements: one on whether March 5 stays, and one on whether Fauzi really takes March 18. If both projects stay in March, the bigger question is whether the calendar forces a clearer gap.
