Ramayana: Part 1 May Get Rashtrapati Bhavan Screening on Nov 5

Nitesh Tiwari's Ramayana: Part 1 may get a Rashtrapati Bhavan screening on its Nov 5 release day, with the lead cast expected to attend.

Ramayana: Part 1 Could Screen at Rashtrapati Bhavan on Nov 5

Nitesh Tiwari’s Ramayana: Part 1 may get one of the most high-profile launch events an Indian film has seen in recent years. The makers are reportedly seeking permission to hold a special screening at Rashtrapati Bhavan in New Delhi on November 5, the same day the mythological epic opens in cinemas worldwide. India Today reports that political leaders may be invited, but the event is yet to be officially confirmed.

If the plan comes together, it would give a two-part cinematic saga a send-off that blends film, faith and state. For fans, though, the clearest fact remains: Ramayana: Part 1 is set for a wide, multilingual theatrical release, and the premiere calendar is still being locked.

A screening fit for an epic

According to a Mid-Day report cited by India Today, Ranbir Kapoor, Yash, Sai Pallavi and director Nitesh Tiwari are expected to attend the proposed screening. The casting has been one of the film’s biggest draws:

  • Ranbir Kapoor plays Lord Ram.
  • Yash plays Ravana.
  • Sai Pallavi plays Sita.
  • Ravi Dubey plays Lakshman.
  • Sunny Deol plays Hanuman.

The film also features Rakul Preet Singh, Lara Dutta, Vivek Oberoi, Sheeba Chadha, Arun Govil and Indira Krishnan, among others.

Outside the proposed Delhi event, the makers are reportedly planning two premieres: one in Mumbai at the Nita Mukesh Ambani Cultural Centre (NMACC) and another in Delhi. Official confirmation of the screenings and the final guest list is still awaited, so the Rashtrapati Bhavan leg remains a possibility, not a done deal.

Why the venue matters

A Rashtrapati Bhavan screening would be a rare marker of institutional recognition for a commercial Bollywood release. The building is the official residence of the President of India, and hosting a film there signals cultural acknowledgement beyond the usual industry premiere circuit.

That matters for a project like Ramayana: Part 1. The film draws on one of India’s most revered epics, with a cast that blends contemporary stars and familiar names. The campaign is already presenting it as more than a movie: the latest promotional video calls it, in part, “the most immersive 3D cinematic experience ever.” A new poster of Jatayu, voiced by Anupam Kher, adds another emotional layer by spotlighting the character who confronts Ravana to rescue Sita.

The release plan supports that event-level framing. The film will arrive in Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, Kannada and Malayalam, and the makers are pushing IMAX and Premium Large Formats for a bigger theatrical experience.

What to watch for next

For the audience, the venue is only part of the story. The fixed point is the date: November 5. The second instalment of the planned two-part saga is already slated for Diwali 2027.

Until an official word arrives, the safest read is this: the Rashtrapati Bhavan screening is an ambitious ask, the Mumbai premiere looks more concrete, and the film’s worldwide opening is set. Fans should keep November 5 marked, and wait for confirmation before building any plans around the Delhi event.
