Ramayana premium recliners hit ₹3,170; fans raise cost alarm
Ramayana: The Rise of a Legend sees Mumbai premium recliner tickets at ₹3,170, with advance bookings crossing ₹5 crore and fans flagging costs.

The countdown to November 5 has begun, but for many Hindi film fans, the first surprise from Ramayana: The Rise of a Legend is not the scale of the epic — it is the price of a seat.
Advance bookings for Nitesh Tiwari’s mythological saga are live in Delhi, Noida, Mumbai and Bengaluru ahead of its November 5, 2026 release. On BookMyShow, premium recliner seats for the 7.30 am IMAX 3D show at EROS INOX IMAX Cinema in Churchgate, Mumbai, are listed as high as ₹3,170.
According to trade site Sacnilk, the film has collected ₹5.44 crore in advance bookings across India, with more than one lakh tickets sold. By 7 pm on Wednesday, bookings had been recorded in 104 cities. Without block bookings, the advance figure was ₹5.93 crore.
The price map, city by city
There is no single ticket price for the epic. It swings with the city, cinema, format and showtime. In Delhi, a 9 am 3D screening at PVR ECX Chanakyapuri starts at ₹338.98 and goes up to ₹406.78 before GST, while an 11.45 pm show ranges from ₹474.58 to ₹559.32 before GST. IMAX seats in the city sit between ₹600 and ₹2,400.
In Mumbai, standard 7.30 am IMAX 3D tickets are listed at ₹530 to ₹680, with the premium recliner option reaching ₹3,170. In Bengaluru, the film is currently listed in Kannada and Telugu at AMB Cinemas Kapali, with prices ranging from ₹450 to ₹950 across 2D and 3D. Hindi and IMAX listings were still awaited there, and bookings in Hyderabad and Chennai had not opened.
Several moviegoers also noticed prices moving in real time. On social media, some said tickets around ₹800 had climbed to the ₹1,200 range within three to four hours, while convenience fees on booking apps added to the bill.
Why it matters
The two-instalment project is reportedly carrying an overall budget of ₹4,000 crore, including promotions, so the pricing push is not entirely unexpected. Directed by Nitesh Tiwari and produced by Namit Malhotra and Yash, the film stars Ranbir Kapoor, Sai Pallavi, Ravie Dubey, Sunny Deol, Yash, Anupam Kher, Rakul Preet Singh, Kajal Aggarwal and Vivek Oberoi. Sony Pictures is handling the international release, with IMAX and other theatrical formats in play.
For fans, the takeaway is simple: an event film can quickly become an event budget. The most expensive seats are not the whole story, because early-morning 3D and 2D shows remain the most affordable door.
Book without the sting
- Check morning shows and 2D formats first, as they tend to have the lowest base prices.
- Compare seats and formats on the same app before paying.
- Watch the final total, including convenience fees and GST, not just the headline ticket price.
- Wait for Hindi and IMAX listings in Bengaluru, or Hyderabad and Chennai bookings, if those are your cities.
