Ramayana advance booking hits Rs 7.41 crore gross

Advance booking for Nitesh Tiwari’s Ramayana: The Rise of a Legend opened on October 20, on Dussehra, and it has already made a loud early statement. According to The Times of India, the film has grossed Rs 7.41 crore from advance sales and sold about 1.3 lakh tickets ahead of its Diwali release.

The bigger story is the price band. Select theatres are listing tickets from a modest Rs 200 to a premium Rs 3,170 for an IMAX recliner in Mumbai, a range that makes one film feel like two different products. That is not an accident; it is how event films now price by language, city, cinema, format and seat category.

What tickets cost right now

  • Lowest: Rs 200 for the Kannada version at KRG Soundarya Mahal, Doddaballapura, Bengaluru.
  • Highest: Rs 3,170 for a premium recliner IMAX seat at PVR ICON, Phoenix Palladium, Lower Parel, Mumbai.
  • Bengaluru 2D/3D shows: Rs 450 to Rs 950 in select screenings.
  • Delhi 3D: Rs 339 to Rs 407, excluding GST, for a 9 am show at PVR ECX Chanakya Puri.
  • Mumbai IMAX 3D: Rs 530 to Rs 680 at EROS INOX IMAX, Churchgate.

These are reported listings, so prices can shift with showtime, seat availability, taxes and platform charges. Advance windows may also open at different times across theatres and language versions.

Why the range matters for fans

For a story so closely tied to family viewing, the gap between a Rs 200 Kannada seat and a Rs 3,170 Mumbai recliner shows two different audiences being served at once. The affordable end keeps the film accessible; the premium end turns opening weekend into an event purchase. That matters because Diwali releases run on first-weekend momentum, and a high ceiling at IMAX and recliner formats can lift per-screen collections without pricing every seat at a premium.

For fans, the move is simple: if you want IMAX or recliner seats, book early and compare formats within the same city. A 7:30 am IMAX 3D show in Mumbai was listed far below the Palladium recliner price, so timing and seat type can matter as much as the city. If you are watching with family, a standard 2D or 3D show can bring the cost down considerably; premium seats are an option, not the default.

What is coming

Directed by Nitesh Tiwari and produced by Namit Malhotra, Ramayana: The Rise of a Legend opens worldwide on November 5, 2026, during the Diwali period. It is planned as the first instalment of a two-part saga. Ranbir Kapoor plays Lord Rama, Sai Pallavi plays Sita, Yash plays Ravana, Ravie Dubey is Lakshman and Sunny Deol is Lord Hanuman. The wider cast includes Lara Dutta, Rakul Preet Singh, Arun Govil and Indira Krishnan.

An early reading is that the Kannada-language pricing is not a footnote; it signals a pan-India release strategy rather than a Hindi-belt-only event. The first advance number is a starting point, but it already tells exhibitors that audiences are treating the film as an occasion.
