At 61, Salman Khan’s Little-Fan Hug Wins the Internet

Salman Khan paused at the IIFA press event in Mumbai to hug a tiny fan, and the clip went viral. Here's why the moment lands and what's next.

At 61, Salman Khan's Tiny-Fan Hug Wins the Internet

At the IIFA press conference in Mumbai on Thursday, Salman Khan arrived the way a superstar usually does: with heavy security and a schedule that does not wait. Then a little fan got close enough, and the schedule did wait.

A tiny fan, a big pause

The 61-year-old actor stopped to sign a poster for the young girl, writing a long note along with his signature. He then posed for a photo, shook her hand, pulled her into a hug and placed a kiss on her forehead. A paparazzo account shared the clip, and it quickly made the rounds on social media.

Fans responded almost immediately. One Instagram user called Salman “a golden hearted man,” while others wrote that he can do anything when it comes to children.

Part of the appeal is that the interaction felt unhurried. Signing a poster, shaking a hand, and making eye contact are small things, but they are precisely what a security-heavy public appearance usually strips away.

Why the contrast works

Salman’s screen persona is built on action, one-liners and controlled chaos. A soft moment with a child cuts through that image. It reinforces the “Bhaijaan” warmth his audience expects, and it gives the fandom something to celebrate that has nothing to do with box office or release dates.

It also connects to something he said recently. On Koffee With Karan Season 9, Salman told Karan Johar that he wants to have children at some point. Watching him pause for a child turns that line into a moment fans can feel.

What the calendar holds

Even as the clip travels, Salman has two film narratives running in parallel:

  • SVC63: currently shooting with director Vamshi Paidipally, reportedly also starring Nayanthara, produced by Dil Raju and targeting an Eid 2027 release.
  • Maatrubhumi: May War Rest in Peace: awaiting clearance from the censor board, with reports suggesting the film’s Indo-China content is behind the delay.

A fan moment like this does quiet marketing work. It softens the wait for a delayed film and gives an Eid-targeted title a family-friendly image before a single poster drops. For a star whose pull has always leaned on mass affection, that may be worth more than a press note.
