Prahaar Day 9: Saturday bump lifts India gross to Rs 22.51 cr

A brighter second Saturday

Rajkummar Rao’s Prahaar – The Ujjwal Nikam Story clicked back upward on its ninth day. The film collected Rs 1.15 crore net across 892 shows on Saturday, October 24, per Sacnilk. That is a 91.7% lift from the second Friday, which had slipped to Rs 60 lakh.

The uptick pushed the courtroom drama’s India net total to Rs 18.90 crore. Its domestic gross now stands at Rs 22.51 crore, with Rs 2.75 crore banked overseas. Worldwide gross has touched Rs 25.26 crore.

How the second Saturday unfolded

Occupancy improved steadily as the day went on. Hindi 2D shows averaged 30.08%, with night screenings leading at 40.38%. Evening shows held 32.77%, while afternoon and morning logged 27.62% and 10.62%. That pattern suggests an audience that plans a serious courtroom watch for the later part of the day, rather than a spontaneous morning outing.

  • Day 9 India net: Rs 1.15 cr — up 91.7% from Friday
  • India gross: Rs 22.51 cr; worldwide: Rs 25.26 cr
  • Week-one total: Rs 17.15 cr
  • Strongest single day: Sunday, Oct 18 — Rs 3.65 cr

The bigger box office picture

Saturday’s recovery is welcome, but the film is fighting from a much smaller base. It ran 892 shows on day nine against 3,908 on its first Saturday. The Rs 1.15 crore figure is still 63.5% below the Rs 3.15 crore it earned on opening Saturday. After a Rs 17.15 crore first week, weekday falls were sharp—Thursday brought Rs 1.20 crore, and the second Friday sank to Rs 60 lakh.

Day nine recorded 48,874 footfalls, taking the film’s cumulative theatre attendance to 855,480. With limited shows, the evening and night slots are the strongest places to catch it. Whether Prahaar extends beyond a niche run now depends on word of mouth.

The drama follows public prosecutor Ujjwal Nikam’s legal battles tied to the 1993 Bombay bombings and the 2008 Mumbai attacks. Rajkummar Rao leads as Nikam, with Wamiqa Gabbi as Jyoti Nikam, Lalit Prabhakar as Ajmal Kasab and Jaideep Ahlawat as Chaudhary Zulfiqar Ali.
