Udta Teer Day 2: 76.8% jump takes India net to Rs 11.35 cr

Ayushmann Khurrana's Udta Teer climbs 76.8% on Saturday to Rs 7.25 cr, lifting its India net total to Rs 11.35 cr and worldwide gross to Rs 16.28 cr.

Udta Teer crosses Rs 11.35 cr in India after Day 2 jump

After a quiet start, Udta Teer found some momentum on its first Saturday. Ayushmann Khurrana’s Hindi action comedy added Rs 7.25 crore to its India net kitty on Day 2, a jump of 76.8% over the Rs 4.10 crore it opened with on Friday, according to Sacnilk figures shared by trade trackers.

That takes the film’s two-day domestic net total to Rs 11.35 crore. Its India gross stands at Rs 13.53 crore, while worldwide gross has reached Rs 16.28 crore after adding Rs 1.50 crore from overseas on Saturday.

A stronger Saturday

The film, directed by Aakash Kaushik in his first outing, opened on October 23 with 6,265 shows and 13% occupancy. On Day 2, it played across 6,164 screenings and managed 21% occupancy overall. That translated to 317,835 footfalls on Saturday, taking cumulative attendance past the 5 lakh mark by the end of the day.

The Hindi 2D version showed a clear evening-upward curve, which often signals that family and working audiences are showing up after word of mouth begins to travel:

  • Morning shows: 8.54% occupancy
  • Afternoon shows: 27.62% occupancy
  • Evening shows: 33.00% occupancy
  • Night shows: 42.69% occupancy

That night-show number is the most encouraging datapoint for the film: it was more than four times the morning turnout, suggesting the comedy-action premise is finding its audience once the day’s commitments are done.

What this means for the weekend

An opening of Rs 4.10 crore was modest for a mainstream Bollywood release led by Ayushmann Khurrana and Sara Ali Khan. The Saturday surge matters because it indicates that interest is being built in cinemas, not just through pre-release buzz. If Sunday follows the same curve, the film could head into Monday with a healthier first-weekend total than the Friday number alone implied.

The film casts Ayushmann as Bilal Ahmad, a Pakistani intelligence operative who loses his memory after an explosion and begins working with an Indian security unit. Sara Ali Khan plays his wife and colleague, a finance official in the defence ministry. The supporting cast includes Rahul Bose, Ram Kapoor, Gulshan Grover, Mukul Dev, Suhail Nayyar, Supriya Pilgaonkar, Brijendra Kala and Parul Gulati; the release also marks Mukul Dev’s second posthumous screen appearance.

For fans deciding whether to book a ticket, the numbers tell a simple story: this is a film that is picking up speed after a slow start. Catching a night or evening show may also give you the liveliest house.
