SRK turns 61: Mannat security up, King’s first song out

Mumbai Police tightened security outside Mannat as Shah Rukh Khan turned 61, and SRK marked the day with King's first song, Tu Mil Jaaye.

SRK turns 61: Mannat security up, King's first song out

Shah Rukh Khan celebrated his 61st birthday on Monday in the same place his fandom has turned into a pilgrimage: outside Mannat in Bandra. This year, though, the annual gathering came with extra police checks and a musical surprise from his next film, King.

Bandra roads turn into a birthday checkpoint

Mumbai Police personnel were stationed outside the actor’s residence from the early hours, checking cars and keeping the crowd in control. Barricades were put up as a precaution, and a heavy police presence was reported in the area as fans arrived to catch a glimpse of the superstar.

Khan holds a Y+ category security cover. The protection is self-funded and follows specific threat assessments, which partly explains the visible security layers on a day that is otherwise a celebration.

King’s first song arrives as the birthday gift

Rather than keep the day to greetings alone, SRK gave fans something to talk about: Tu Mil Jaaye, the first song from King. The video pairs him with Deepika Padukone and sets up a romance that quickly turns toward illegal smuggling, hinting at a darker turn ahead.

The track’s credits read like a crossover event:

  • Voices: Arijit Singh and Madhubanti Bagchi
  • Music: Sachin-Jigar
  • Lyrics: Kumaar
  • English rap: Ed Sheeran
  • Director: Siddharth Anand
  • Producers: Red Chillies Entertainment and Marflix Pictures
  • Release: 24 December 2026 in cinemas worldwide

The video opens with a dialogue that sets up SRK’s character: “Main qaatil nahi, aashiq hoon, aur nishana meri mashooka, aur woh aashiq hi kya jo dil cheer na de.” It closes with another line that promises more fire from the world of King.

Why the birthday ritual still matters

For Hindi film fans, a Shah Rukh Khan birthday is not a private affair. Every year, the crowd outside Mannat is part of the story, and SRK often steps out to wave, making the moment feel personal. The Mumbai Police’s visible deployment on Monday, from car checks to barricades, shows how large the gathering has become.

Adding the first song from King turns that fan energy into a launchpad. The decision to bring Ed Sheeran in for the English rap gives the track a global hook, while Arijit Singh and Madhubanti Bagchi keep it rooted in the Bollywood ballad tradition. By the time the film opens on 24 December 2026, the song will already be part of the conversation.

If you missed the morning, the video is now out, and the release date is the next date to circle.
