Orry reveals why he ended his friendship with Sara Ali Khan

Orry opens up about his fallout with Sara Ali Khan after feeling hurt and receiving no apology, saying he cannot continue the friendship.

Orry says no apology means no friendship with Sara

From childhood friends to distance

Orhan Awatramani, known to fans as Orry, has opened up about why he no longer considers actor Sara Ali Khan a friend. Speaking on Neha Dhupia and Angad Bedi’s show Double Date, he framed the break as a question of respect, support and an apology that never came.

Asked to name the most famous person he had blocked, unfollowed or muted, he brought up Sara and her mother, Amrita Singh. The two go back years: Orry says they were childhood friends and went to college together.

During what he called a difficult phase for Sara—a case he did not detail on the show—he said he stayed close even though people around him advised him to step away. “I was with her throughout this,” he recalled, adding that he believed the friendship could survive hard circumstances.

What he says Amrita Singh did

The distancing, however, revolves around Sara’s mother, Amrita Singh. Orry claimed she scolded him and spoke about him to others. That, he suggested, became the real test of the friendship.

He explained that pretending to remain close would imply he was fine with how Amrita Singh treated him and that he had accepted the absence of any apology.

“I can’t stay friends with her,” he said.

Orry’s larger point was about authenticity. He said he pursues genuine connection and would rather not perform a friendship he no longer believes is sincere. In his characteristically self-aware style, he added that he can be “fake” if someone wants him to be, but that is not what he wants from close bonds.

Why this matters to Bollywood fans

Orry built his fame largely on social media visibility and his proximity to celebrities. That makes a public falling-out with a star like Sara Ali Khan inherently watchable: fans get a rare, direct account of a private friendship turning cold.

His phrasing was both confessional and on-brand. He said he can appear “fake” if someone wants him to be, but that is not what he wants in a real connection. That tension—between the party-circuit Orry and the person seeking sincerity—is what gives the story its pull.

Sara, meanwhile, has been visible for her work. She was recently seen in Udta Teer, a comedy action drama with Ayushmann Khurrana. Orry’s comments arrive when both remain in different corners of the filmi conversation—he in the celebrity-social-media lane, she in cinema.

The friendship equation he is drawing

His explanation comes down to a simple rule: if the relationship is no longer genuine, it is not worth keeping. The public may debate whether such grievances belong on a talk show, but Orry has clearly decided that silence would feel more dishonest than speaking out.

  • He says he stood by Sara during a major case, despite advice to leave.
  • He claims Amrita Singh scolded him and spoke about him to others.
  • No apology came, and that became the point of no return.

The one-line takeaway for fans: without an apology, Orry does not see a route back.
