SRK Turns 61, Waves From Mannat; King Song Drops
Shah Rukh Khan turned 61 with a Mannat balcony wave and released the first song from King, Tu Mil Jaaye, ahead of the film's December 24 release.

Shah Rukh Khan’s birthday has long been a piece of Bollywood theatre in its own right, and his 61st turned out to be no different. On November 2, fans gathered outside his Mumbai home, Mannat, got the moment they had been waiting for: SRK stepped out on the balcony and gave the crowd his open-armed signature pose.
It was a simple gesture, and it is exactly why the annual ritual works. A birthday is the one occasion when a star this protected is expected to show up, and SRK delivered.
A Mannat-style thank you
Earlier in the day, Shah Rukh had already made a brief appearance outside the Taj hotel in South Mumbai, where he reportedly marked the occasion with family and close friends. Fans waiting there cheered and shouted “I love you” as he emerged in the early hours of Monday. Before getting into his car, he waved and blew kisses.
Back at Mannat, the balcony appearance completed the loop. For many fans, the Bandra pilgrimage on November 2 is the point: they turn up without a ticket, hoping for one glimpse from the balcony.
The King campaign gets moving
The birthday doubled as a launchpad for Shah Rukh’s next film, King, directed by Siddharth Anand and slated for release on December 24, 2026.
- First song: “Tu Mil Jaaye,” featuring Shah Rukh and Deepika Padukone, released at midnight on November 2.
- Dance teaser: Kareena Kapoor Khan shared a glimpse of her dance sequence with SRK and called him “the forever Ruler of the kingdom,” adding “Let’s dance together… Can’t wait… 24-12-26.”
- Cast and cameos: The film stars Suhana Khan, Abhishek Bachchan, Jackie Shroff, Arshad Warsi and Raghav Juyal, with Kareena, Rani Mukerji and Deepika Padukone making special appearances.
The midnight timing is deliberate: it gives fans something to do at exactly the moment social feeds fill up with birthday wishes. While sharing the song, Shah Rukh wrote that this “era of love” is “bestowed upon the fortunate ones,” where “roses bloom amidst the fragrance of gunpowder.”
What this tells us about the release
King is now clearly set up as a big-screen Christmas event. By tying the first song and Kareena’s teaser to SRK’s birthday, the producers concentrated two waves of buzz—the film news and the birthday news—into one day. That is a useful playbook for any launch: put the first asset where the audience is already gathered.
For fans, the immediate to-do list is short: stream “Tu Mil Jaaye,” watch the dance teaser, and mark December 24, 2026 on the calendar. For the industry, the bigger question is whether a birthday drop can carry momentum all the way to a Christmas release. If the campaign keeps feeding the fan base between now and December, the balcony wave will look less like a one-day moment and more like the opening beat of a long run-up.
