Jailer 2 OTT Version May Add 30 Minutes

Reports suggest the digital version of Rajinikanth's Jailer 2 may restore about 30 minutes of deleted scenes with Mohanlal, Santhanam and more.

Jailer 2's OTT cut may add 30 minutes

Jailer 2 has already done what a Rajinikanth sequel is built to do: dominate the box office and keep fans talking. With its theatrical run winding down, the chatter has moved to the digital premiere — and it may come with a longer cut.

Directed by Nelson Dilipkumar and backed by Sun Pictures, the film released on October 15 with music by Anirudh Ravichander and an ensemble that includes Ramya Krishnan, Mirnaa, SJ Suryah, Vidya Balan, Suraj Venjaramoodu, Hrithik Roshan, Mohanlal and Shivarajkumar. That cast is part of why the OTT conversation is so charged: even a few restored scenes could change the experience for fans.

A 30-minute streaming bonus?

A News18 report suggests the OTT version of Jailer 2 could carry around 30 minutes of footage that did not make the theatrical edit. If that holds, viewers may finally see additional scenes involving Santhanam, Mohanlal, Vijay Sethupathi and Hrithik Roshan.

No one from the film’s team has confirmed the uncut version yet, so treat this as a strong report rather than an official announcement.

Why fans are watching closely

Some of the biggest post-release talking points were about screen time. Santhanam appeared in the shooting completion video, but his scenes were reportedly absent from the final cut. Portions featuring Mohanlal were trimmed, which disappointed many fans in Kerala, and Vijay Sethupathi’s role was reduced. An extended digital version is a practical way to give those fans more of what they wanted, and it gives streaming platforms a reason to promote the premiere after the theatrical run has cooled.

For Tamil cinema fans, the promise of an uncut version also reframes the theatrical experience. It turns the cinema run into the first viewing and the digital premiere into a longer conversation with the same star cast.

  • Reported addition: about 30 minutes of extra footage.
  • Reported platforms: Amazon Prime Video and Sun NXT.
  • Reported window: after November 10, with no official date.

What this tells us about filmi OTT windows

Longer streaming cuts are becoming a familiar second life for big star vehicles. Theatres get a tight, interval-friendly version; streaming gets an event-worthy “more” that can bring back audiences who already watched the film. Whether Nelson Dilipkumar restores the deleted portions is still open, but the interest shows how much star power sits in even a few extra scenes.

The reported timing matters too. A streaming debut after November 10 would let the theatrical run play out while keeping the film in the cultural conversation. But without official word, the exact date, the platform split and the final runtime are all still up in the air.

The practical move is simple: wait for Sun Pictures or the streaming platforms to confirm the date and the cut. Until then, the 30-minute figure is a possibility, not a promise.
