Bengaluru Techie Arrested Over Rs 5 Crore Bishnoi Threat

Mumbai Police arrested a Bengaluru IT engineer accused of sending fake Lawrence Bishnoi gang threats to Ayushmann Khurrana and Tusshar Kapoor.

Bengaluru Techie Held Over Rs 5 Crore Threat to Tusshar

Mumbai Police have arrested a Bengaluru-based IT engineer, Vaibhav Mishra, on suspicion of sending threatening audio messages to Bollywood actors using the Lawrence Bishnoi gang’s name. The targets named so far include Ayushmann Khurrana and Tusshar Kapoor.

How the threats worked

According to an IANS report, Mishra was picked up in Bengaluru on Wednesday. Mumbai Police sources said he had been targeting several celebrities who live in Mumbai over the previous few days.

The accused allegedly posed as a member of the Bishnoi gang. Ayushmann Khurrana reportedly received an audio message demanding crores of rupees. Tusshar Kapoor reportedly received a similar voice note: the sender called himself Harry Boxxer and demanded Rs 5 crore. Preliminary investigation, however, suggests the audio could be fake.

The threats at a glance

  • Ayushmann Khurrana: reported audio demand for crores.
  • Tusshar Kapoor: reported Rs 5 crore demand from “Harry Boxxer”.
  • Vaibhav Mishra: the IT engineer arrested in Bengaluru.

Why the Bishnoi name carries weight

The case is unsettling because it arrives weeks after a very real incident. On October 18, Tiger Shroff was fired at, and the Lawrence Bishnoi group claimed responsibility. A person named Anil Pandit, described in the report as a group representative, said on social media that anyone working closely with Salman Khan would not be spared. He also released an audio clip threatening Salman Khan and his family.

“If you don’t apologise to my elder brother, Lawrence Bishnoi, or to the Bishnoi community, then we won’t even leave a dog in your house,” he said in that clip.

That atmosphere makes the gang’s name a weapon in itself. A fake caller does not need access to the gang; they just need the fear the name provokes. If a star receives a voice note in that name, the first instinct is danger, not doubt.

What the arrest changes

Police have not yet said the threats came from the actual Bishnoi group. The preliminary line—that the audio may be fake—points toward an alleged extortion attempt riding on a notorious brand. That does not make the threats less serious, but it changes the nature of the case from organised crime to a different sort of menace: someone using a real fear to extract money.

The arrest across state lines also signals that law enforcement is treating filmi extortion threats as urgent. For fans, the practical takeaway is to avoid spreading unverified audio clips. A threatening voice note is evidence first; sharing it gives the sender the audience they wanted.

What the two actors are doing

Neither actor has issued a statement in this report, and the news does not suggest any changes to their schedules. Ayushmann Khurrana was recently seen in Udta Teer with Sara Ali Khan; Tusshar Kapoor was last seen in Ahmed Khan’s Welcome to the Jungle.
