Ramayana advance bookings hit ₹8.27 crore, real sales up 73%

Nitesh Tiwari's Ramayana: Rise of a Legend has crossed ₹8.27 crore in advance bookings, with unblocked ticket sales jumping 73% as the November 5 release nears.

Ramayana advance bookings hit ₹8.27 crore

The advance window for Nitesh Tiwari’s Ramayana: Rise of a Legend is beginning to look like a genuine audience movement rather than a distributor-managed headline. By 11:42 am on October 23, the film had sold more than 1.47 lakh tickets across 3,964 shows, taking total advance gross to ₹8.27 crore including block seats and ₹6.25 crore without them.

Where the money is actually coming from

The more revealing shift is in the quality of the sales. Unblocked, confirmed ticket purchases rose 73%, from ₹3.61 crore to ₹6.25 crore, while the total gross including block seats grew 52%. Blocked seats, which made up roughly 34% of the early gross, now account for about 24%.

Nearly 93% of the ₹2.83 crore added in the latest window came from unblocked, confirmed purchases. That suggests the momentum is coming from moviegoers, not just from inventory held back by exhibitors.

Formats and screens to watch

Premium formats are leading the early charge. IMAX and 4DX shows are drawing the strongest interest, while standard multiplex screens are still building. By Thursday night, advance sales had crossed the 50,000-ticket mark across major chains such as PVR INOX and Cinepolis.

No tracked shows have sold out yet, which leaves room for more screens to open. Total show count has expanded 12%, and average sales per show have moved from 26 to 37 tickets. For scale, a major opener like Dhurandhar: The Revenge ultimately pulled in more than 9.50 lakh opening-day advance tickets across 17,000-plus shows, so Ramayana’s current footprint is still relatively modest.

What a strong start would look like

  • 3.5 lakh opening-day tickets across the top three national chains is seen as a strong pre-Diwali signal.
  • 5 lakh tickets in the top chains is the higher benchmark.
  • A ₹70 crore India nett opening is ambitious; ₹60 crore would be a solid foundation.
  • Paid previews on November 4 could give the total a small early push.

The release date, November 5, is a pre-Diwali Thursday, so the film does not get a full national holiday on day one. The bigger festival window opens from November 9, which is where sustained momentum would matter most.

What this means for Bollywood’s festive season

A two-part adaptation of the epic is a high-stakes bet. The first instalment arrives in Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, Kannada, and Malayalam, with the second part planned for Diwali 2027. Ramayana: Rise of a Legend is co-produced by Namit Malhotra’s Prime Focus Studios, DNEG, and Yash’s Monster Mind Creations, and stars Ranbir Kapoor as Lord Rama, Sai Pallavi as Sita, Ravie Dubey as Lakshman, Yash as Ravana, and Sunny Deol as Lord Hanuman.

The final advance push is expected from October 29, when exhibitors unlock full schedules and wider screen allocations. If unblocked sales keep outpacing blocked inventory, the film could arrive with the kind of organic demand that sustains beyond the opening weekend.
