Ramayana: Part 1 crosses Rs 20 crore in advance bookings

Ramayana: Part 1 has crossed Rs 20 crore in worldwide advance bookings, putting Ranbir Kapoor's Diwali epic in the race to beat Animal's opening record.

Ramayana: Part 1 crosses Rs 20 crore in advance bookings

Ten days before it arrives, Nitesh Tiwari’s Ramayana: Part 1 has crossed Rs 20 crore in worldwide advance bookings. Trade tracker Sacnilk pegs the pre-release gross at about $2.15 million, combining the paid previews scheduled for November 4 and the opening-day bookings for November 5.

The number matters less as a final score and more as a signal. With the film still a week away, early demand is strong enough to place Ranbir Kapoor’s mythological epic in the conversation for his biggest worldwide opening.

Where the early money is coming from

Sacnilk’s split shows the film is not relying on a single market. North American previews for November 4 have already contributed more than $550,000, while November 5 opening-day bookings globally have crossed $1.60 million. In India, the November 5 advance gross has passed $1.20 million, with overseas markets adding another $400,000-plus for the same day.

  • Worldwide advance gross: $2.15 million, about Rs 20 crore
  • North America previews on November 4: over $550,000
  • Worldwide November 5 bookings: over $1.60 million
  • India November 5 advance gross: over $1.20 million
  • Overseas November 5 advance gross: over $400,000

On the domestic side, an earlier snapshot recorded Rs 9.22 crore in India advance gross, with 1.65 lakh tickets sold around ten days before release. The average ticket price is Rs 559, a figure lifted by premium formats and IMAX 3D screenings. That is a reminder of the audience the film is pulling: families and fans willing to pay more for a big-screen mythological experience.

The Animal benchmark

The record in question belongs to Ranbir Kapoor’s 2023 film Animal. Directed by Sandeep Reddy Vanga, Animal opened with Rs 116 crore worldwide on day one, including Rs 76.10 crore in India and Rs 39.90 crore from overseas. It remains the actor’s career-best opening day.

Ramayana: Part 1 has structural advantages and a few variables. The casting is broad: Ranbir Kapoor as Lord Ram, Sai Pallavi as Sita, Yash as Raavan, and Sunny Deol as Hanuman. The Diwali period should help theatrical footfall, and the November 4 paid previews create an extra window for early collections.

What is still undecided is the final pace. Advance bookings can accelerate or stall depending on show additions, final-day word of mouth, and how many premium shows exhibitors add. The current total puts the film in contention; it does not guarantee a new record.

What to watch next

Fans should watch the booking curve in the last three or four days before release. If the November 4 previews perform as strongly as the North America pre-sales suggest, the opening-day number will get an early push. For now, Ramayana: Part 1 has cleared a meaningful pre-release milestone, and the Diwali box office has its first real headline.
