Ranbir Kapoor Calls Daughter Raha the Diya of His Life

Ahead of Ramayana's 5 November release, Ranbir Kapoor called daughter Raha the diya of his life and shared his birthday wish for her on BBC radio.

Ranbir Calls Daughter Raha the Diya of His Life

Ahead of the worldwide release of Ramayana: Rise of a Legend, Ranbir Kapoor is making a different kind of news. During a promotional stop in London, he was asked on BBC radio to name the diya of his life — and his answer was immediate: his daughter, Raha.

The diya question

Appearing with co-star Sai Pallavi, Ranbir spoke about the film arriving during Diwali weekend. When the conversation turned personal, he told listeners, “For me, definitely my daughter.”

He added that Raha will celebrate her birthday on 6 November, two days before Diwali. Describing it as her fourth Diwali, he shared a simple wish: that she be surrounded by blessings, good vibes and positivity.

A birthday-release coincidence

Fans had already pointed out that Nitesh Tiwari’s Ramayana would arrive around Raha’s birthday. During an earlier Instagram Live, Ranbir had called that timing a “beautiful coincidence”.

He has also gone further, sharing that this will be the first big-screen film Raha experiences in a cinema hall. It is a week of firsts at once: Diwali, a birthday, and her father as Lord Ram on the largest screen possible.

  • Worldwide release: 5 November, during Diwali week
  • Special previews: 4 November
  • Raha’s birthday: 6 November, two days before Diwali
  • Personal connection: fatherhood and the role arrived together

Why the personal note matters

Big-budget mythology can feel distant. These family details bring the actor’s own story close to the film’s themes of duty, devotion and new beginnings. Ranbir admitted he initially felt fear about playing Lord Ram, but said that fear quickly turned into gratitude, and that the role came at a point when he needed to change his lifestyle after becoming a father.

For fans planning a Diwali weekend outing, the practical next step is easy: preview shows begin on 4 November, and the full release follows on 5 November. For those who follow the Kapoor family’s sweetest moments, Raha’s 6 November birthday might be the gentler story of the week.
