Saif Ali Khan trial: Nurse says intruder demanded Rs 1 crore
The first witness in the Saif Ali Khan attack trial identified Mohammed Shariful in court and said the intruder demanded Rs 1 crore.

The trial in the January 2025 attack on Saif Ali Khan opened with the family’s staff nurse identifying accused Mohammed Shariful as the man she encountered inside the Bandra home. The nurse, who is the complainant and first prosecution witness, told the court she has worked with the family for over five years and was assigned to look after Saif and Kareena Kapoor Khan’s younger son, Jeh.
The sequence she described
According to her testimony, the incident unfolded in the early hours of January 15-16, 2025. Her account went back to the failed robbery attempt that shook the household and later became a national talking point.
- The nurse woke around 2 am after hearing a sound and saw the bathroom light was on, initially thinking Kareena was inside.
- She woke again, sensed something wrong, and saw a shadow of a man in a cap moving toward Jeh’s bed.
- When she rushed to pick up the child, the intruder attacked her with a hexa blade, injuring two fingers.
- He told her to stay quiet and not leave the room; when she asked what he wanted, he said, “Rs 1 crore.”
- Jeh’s nanny raised an alarm, bringing Saif and Kareena to the room.
- Saif confronted the intruder and was attacked, suffering injuries to his back, neck and hand.
Saif’s injuries and the alleged escape
During the face-off, the nurse said, Saif managed to overpower the intruder for a while. Family members and staff then moved to another room and locked themselves in. Other employees arrived, and the accused allegedly fled through the main door.
Saif was taken to hospital for treatment of injuries to his back, neck and hand.
Why this first testimony matters
Because the nurse is both the complainant and the first witness, her examination-in-chief is the foundation of the prosecution case. Public prosecutor Iqbal Solkar has begun examining her, and the hearing will continue at the next date.
The trial began only after the court rejected Mohammed Shariful’s second attempt to plead guilty. The 31-year-old accused, alleged to be a Bangladeshi national, had first tried to enter a guilty plea in August and repeated the attempt this month; both requests were turned down.
What fans can watch for next
The nurse’s testimony is the first major step, not the final word. The prosecution will have to place more witnesses and material before the court, while the defence will get its chance to cross-examine. For Bollywood watchers who remember the shock of that January night, the Mumbai courtroom is now where the fuller picture will emerge.
