Salman Khan’s Maatrubhumi trailer gets U/A 16+; release delayed
Salman Khan's Maatrubhumi trailer is U/A 16+ certified, but the film still awaits CBFC clearance and may skip its November 6 release.

Salman Khan’s Maatrubhumi: May War Rest In Peace has passed one check, but not the one that opens theatre doors. The trailer was cleared by the CBFC on Wednesday, November 4, 2026, with a U/A 16+ certificate. The film itself, though, is still waiting for its own censor certificate, so the previously expected November 6 release now looks highly unlikely.
What the trailer clearance means
The cleared promo runs 4 minutes and 43 seconds. A U/A 16+ rating signals parental guidance for viewers below 16, which is standard for war material with battlefield intensity. But a trailer clearance is not the same as a final film certificate, and that gap is what has pushed the date.
Where the release stands
With the final certificate still pending, the makers are no longer targeting November 6. According to the report, they are now considering a new theatrical window, with November 20 or December 11 as possible dates. Jio Studios will distribute the film across India. An official announcement is expected once the plan is locked.
- Trailer: U/A 16+, 4 minutes 43 seconds
- Film certificate: still awaited
- Original date: November 6—unlikely
- New targets: November 20 or December 11
- Distributor: Jio Studios, all-India
From Battle Of Galwan to Maatrubhumi
The project was first announced as Battle Of Galwan and was renamed earlier this year. It is based on the 2020 standoff between India and China. The film reportedly faced clearance hurdles because of its theme and references to China before it secured government approval.
The story and the cast
Directed by Apoorva Lakhia, the film stars Salman Khan as Colonel Bikkumalla Santosh Babu, commanding officer of the 16 Bihar Regiment. He led Indian troops during the Galwan Valley clash and was posthumously awarded the Maha Vir Chakra. Chitrangada Singh plays a key role, while Mukesh Rishi, Ankur Bhatia, Zeyn Shaw and Abhilash Chaudhary feature as officers and personnel. Vijay Raaz narrates.
What fans should do now
Keep the calendar flexible until the makers announce a confirmed date. For a film of this scale and sensitivity, the real green light is the final censor certificate—not the trailer clearance. Once that arrives, expect Jio Studios to move quickly on a national rollout.
