Shah Rukh Khan and Deepika Padukone to shoot King song on Oct 26
Shah Rukh Khan and Deepika Padukone are set to reunite for a song sequence in King, with the shoot reportedly starting in Mumbai on Oct 26.

Shah Rukh Khan and Deepika Padukone are adding another chapter to one of Hindi cinema’s most reliable on-screen pairings. Reports say the two stars are set to shoot a large-scale song sequence for their upcoming film King in Mumbai, with the cameras expected to roll on October 26.
What the report says
According to a report in Variety, choreographer Vaibhavi Merchant will lead the sequence. The number is expected to bring together members of the film’s principal cast, though the song’s title, music composer and other creative collaborators have not been confirmed.
A pairing with built-in goodwill
The shoot adds a fresh stop to an on-screen journey that began with Farah Khan’s Om Shanti Om in 2007, Deepika Padukone’s Hindi film debut. Since then, the duo has moved across romance, comedy and action:
- Chennai Express (2013) and Happy New Year (2014)
- Pathaan (2023) and Jawan (2023), both major box-office successes
That range is part of why the reunion is already one of King‘s biggest draws: audiences know the pairing can work in very different registers.
Why the song shoot matters
In Bollywood, a song sequence is rarely just a song. It is often an early signal of a film’s tone, styling and star chemistry. With Vaibhavi Merchant known for large-scale, rhythm-driven numbers, this shoot could be the first real proof of the film’s energy.
King is directed by Siddharth Anand, who has co-written the screenplay with Sujoy Ghosh, Suresh Nair and Sagar Pandya. Alongside Shah Rukh Khan and Deepika Padukone, the ensemble includes Suhana Khan in her theatrical debut, Abhishek Bachchan, Anil Kapoor, Rani Mukerji, Jaideep Ahlawat, Jackie Shroff, Raghav Juyal and Abhay Verma.
Shah Rukh Khan’s last theatrical release was Rajkumar Hirani’s Dunki in December 2023. That year saw him deliver Pathaan in January, Jawan in September and Dunki in December. King is the project now carrying that momentum forward.
Until an official announcement arrives, the report leaves room for speculation about the track’s composer, style and placement in the film. For now, the confirmed signals are enough: a proven director, a beloved jodi and a choreographer who knows how to turn a song into an event.
For fans, October 26 is a date to circle; once the cameras roll, the first glimpses of the film’s scale may start to surface.
