Suhana nails Tu Mil Jaaye; SRK says he struggled with the lyrics

Suhana Khan breezed through Ed Sheeran's rapid Tu Mil Jaaye verse in her Diwali reel, but Shah Rukh Khan admitted the fast lyrics stumped him.

Suhana sings Tu Mil Jaaye; SRK says he's lost

Suhana Khan’s latest Diwali transition reel did double duty: it gave fans a peek at her festive look and reminded everyone that King has a proper earworm. In the clip, Suhana sings along to Tu Mil Jaaye, the newest song from her upcoming film, and she appears to have Ed Sheeran’s rapid-fire English verse fully memorised.

Shah Rukh Khan, watching from the comments, was more baffled than most of us. He wrote on the post: “How do you remember the words!!! It was so difficult for me because Ed sings so fast!!!” Ananya Panday called the video adorable, and Alia Bhatt, Shanaya Kapoor, Orry and Navya Nanda also showed their appreciation.

The moment works because it is not just a family exchange. It doubles as a natural King promo during Diwali, a peak sharing window for Bollywood audiences.

Why Tu Mil Jaaye is a big deal for King

Tu Mil Jaaye arrived on November 2, timed to Shah Rukh Khan’s 61st birthday. It is the first Bollywood playback song from British singer-songwriter Ed Sheeran. His English rap sits alongside vocals by Arijit Singh and Madhubanti Bagchi, with music by Sachin-Jigar and lyrics by Kumaar; Sheeran wrote the English portion himself.

The video is also a reintroduction to the film’s world. It puts Shah Rukh and Deepika Padukone back in one frame and moves between romance, action and a darker, grittier visual tone.

  • Ed Sheeran’s Bollywood playback debut: the track is his first Hindi film song.
  • A birthday drop: the song landed on SRK’s 61st birthday.
  • An SRK-Deepika reunion: the two share the screen again.
  • A tone-setter for King: romance and action tease a darker world.

What happens next

Siddharth Anand directs King, with Shah Rukh Khan, Suhana Khan, Deepika Padukone, Abhishek Bachchan, Rani Mukerji and Arshad Warsi in the cast. Suhana is making her theatrical debut, and the film is set for a worldwide release on December 24.

For fans, the simple takeaway is to treat the song as the film’s opening note, not just a Diwali reel soundtrack. If Suhana’s recall is anything to go by, it is built to be sung back in cinemas.
