10 Horror Films to Stream This Halloween, From Stree to Scream

From Stree's small-town spirit to Tumbbad's cursed treasure, here are ten horror titles worth queueing up across JioHotstar, Netflix and Prime Video.

10 Horror Films to Stream This Halloween

Halloween is the one night when the OTT queue can do the haunting for you. Filmfare’s seasonal horror list lands at a useful moment: the streamers have spent the year adding Indian cult favourites, franchise continuations and a few uncut versions that were missing. We have organised the picks by the mood you want, so the night can start with a laugh and end with every light on.

Indian horror that has earned its place

Start with Tumbbad on Prime Video. When it released in 2018, a vocal section of the audience believed it should have been India’s official Oscar entry; the spot went to Gully Boy instead. The folk-horror story follows a family that figures out how to pull gold coins from a cursed god, and the mood is more mythological dread than jump scare.

Stree, on JioHotstar, is the crowd-pleaser. The spirit of a woman appears once a year and targets men, but Rajkummar Rao’s Vicky falls for Shraddha Kapoor’s enigmatic visitor, which turns the danger into a small-town romance with teeth.

For a newer Indian take, Obsession on JioHotstar was one of 2026’s biggest hits. The plot turns a simple wish—make the woman he loves love him back—into a very bloody problem. The theatrical cut was censored; the just-released uncut OTT version is the one horror completists have been waiting for.

The global scare syllabus

Hollywood’s slasher history gets two entries. Scream on Netflix is still the self-aware blueprint of the genre, and Final Destination Bloodlines goes back to explain the origin of the premonition curse while featuring the late Tony Todd. It, adapted from Stephen King’s 1986 novel, uses Pennywise to prey on a group of children in Derry, and The Conjuring—streaming on Prime Video, Netflix and JioHotstar—leans on the real-life-inspired Perron family haunting with the Warrens at the centre.

For kinetic horror, Train to Busan (JioHotstar and Prime Video) turns a father-daughter train journey into a fast-moving zombie outbreak. Texas Chainsaw Massacre on Netflix revives an ageing Leatherface for a gory update, while Weapons on JioHotstar builds its fear around a classroom mystery and the children who vanished.

Build the night like a setlist

The best Halloween queue has a rhythm. Start light, raise the mythic stakes in the middle, and finish with something that lingers.

  • Warm-up: Stree and Scream—horror with humour and a self-aware wink.
  • Main event: Tumbbad, Obsession and Final Destination Bloodlines—folk dread, obsession and franchise lore.
  • Late night: It, The Conjuring, Train to Busan, Weapons and Texas Chainsaw Massacre—gore, ghosts and relentless chases.

For Hindi film fans, the list doubles as a short history of how the horror language travels. Tumbbad is a reminder that Indian myth can carry a film without a single cheap scare, while Obsession shows the OTT window giving a censored theatrical release its full, intended shape. Queue the titles you have not seen first; the platforms have conveniently spread the list across JioHotstar, Netflix and Prime Video.
