Hrithik to Saba: ‘A lifetime of long layovers’ on her birthday

Hrithik Roshan marked girlfriend Saba Azad’s 41st birthday on November 1 with a rare Instagram note that turned their relationship into a travel metaphor. The 52-year-old actor did not just wish her; he explained why, in his version of love, the longer road wins.

A birthday note built on a flight route

He described two ways to fly from Mumbai. One was a direct flight—efficient and easy. The other went through eight random cities, with hours of transit and the risk of missed connections. His choice, he wrote, was the second option “deliberately… every single time” if Saba was with him.

He closed the post with a line fans are already holding onto: “Here’s to a lifetime of long layovers together. I love you. Happy Birthday.”

Why the post feels rare

Hrithik also addressed a question he was asked recently about Saba. He said he did not want to talk about her because the relationship felt too precious. That openness helps explain why the post landed: the couple has been guarded since going public at Karan Johar’s 50th birthday in May 2022.

The photos themselves gave a small window into their life. One showed them enjoying ice cream, and another captured Saba smiling with Hrithik’s sons, Hrehaan and Hridhaan.

The backstory, briefly

The two reportedly connected after Hrithik appreciated one of Saba’s videos on X in late 2021 or early 2022. Direct messages followed, and a mutual friend helped arrange a first meeting. Since then, they have shown up at family events, film gatherings and holidays, mostly keeping the spotlight away.

Both have stayed busy on screen:

• Hrithik: War 2 (2025) and a special appearance in Jailer 2 (2026)
• Saba: Who’s Your Gynac? Season 2 (2026) and Songs of Paradise (2025)
• Coming up for Saba: Storm, a thriller backed by HRX Films

The note is a reminder that Bollywood’s most public figures can still keep their best stories intimate. For fans, the birthday message became a brief glimpse of a relationship that usually stays off-camera.
