Jailer 2 confirms October 15 Hindi release, ₹22 cr already in
Makers confirm Jailer 2's Hindi version opens October 15 as planned, dismissing OTT-window rumours. The sequel has crossed ₹22 crore worldwide.

Rajinikanth’s sequel is not losing its Hindi release. On Monday, the North India publicity team for Jailer 2 confirmed that the dubbed Hindi version will open in cinemas on Thursday, October 15, 2026, alongside every other language version, and that Pen Marudhar Entertainment will handle the North India rollout.
The clarification landed after a weekend of speculation that the Hindi dub might be squeezed out of national multiplex chains such as PVR INOX and Cinepolis. The makers asked media and platforms to hold off on unverified reports about the release.
Where the rumour started
The chatter wasn’t random. Reports pointed to Sun Pictures’ streaming deal for the sequel, which allegedly requires every language version to reach OTT within four weeks of its theatrical opening. That’s business as usual for Tamil films, but Hindi exhibitors and streamers have grown used to an eight-week gap. A four-week window, the thinking went, could make national multiplexes reluctant to give the Hindi dub prime screens.
Several pan-India titles have solved this before with a staggered digital plan: the original South Indian version streams after four weeks, and the dubbed Hindi version follows a month later. The worry with Jailer 2 was that all versions were reportedly headed to streaming in November, which would compress the Hindi theatrical window.
The numbers behind the nervousness
Why would a tight OTT window matter so much for the Hindi version? Because the first film barely leaned on Hindi screens. The 2023 original’s domestic split tells the story:
- Tamil: ₹268.87 crore
- Telugu: ₹68.06 crore
- Hindi: ₹7.24 crore
Jailer was always a Tamil-first blockbuster. A limited Hindi rollout for the sequel wouldn’t sink it, but it would cap how far the film travels beyond Rajinikanth’s core audience. The sequel has reportedly already crossed ₹22 crore worldwide from its other language versions, with overseas markets leading the early numbers.
What this means for the weekend
The release lands five days before Dussehra, which gives the film a festive runway if the Hindi screen count holds. The Friday slate also includes Prahaar: The Untold Story of Ujjwal Nikam, the Rajkummar Rao courtroom drama, and Nayyi Naveli, Yami Gautam’s horror comedy. Earlier chatter suggested those titles could benefit if Jailer 2’s Hindi dub took a back seat in multiplexes; that pressure is now off.
Director Nelson Dilipkumar’s sequel carries an ensemble that ranges from Mohanlal and Shiva Rajkumar to Jackie Shroff, Mithun Chakraborty and Vidya Balan, with a reported Hrithik Roshan cameo adding to the buzz. The real test now is simple: how many Hindi screens does the film actually land, and how far can it stretch beyond its Tamil stronghold?
For fans, the takeaway is straightforward. The release date is real, the Hindi dub is coming, and the only thing left to watch is the screen count.
