Scene trailer: Suriya’s 47th is a cop who quits for politics
Suriya plays Inbaraj, a rule-breaking cop who wants to quit the force, in Jithu Madhavan's Scene. It opens Nov 6 amid a Deepavali box-office clash.

Suriya’s 47th film opens with a simple idea: a police officer who wants to leave the job. The full trailer for Scene, directed by Jithu Madhavan, uses that premise to blend action, comedy and mystery—and it gives Suriya a role with a very topical punchline. The film arrives worldwide on November 6, in the middle of the Deepavali frame.
What the Scene trailer shows
Suriya plays Inbaraj, a rule-bending officer who decides to resign. His superior Stephen, played by Lal, keeps pulling him back to duty, even sending constables to his home. When Stephen pushes for a reason, Inbaraj says he plans to enter politics. That exchange appears to be an indirect nod to Vijay’s move from cinema to politics, and it gives the trailer a wink that fans will catch instantly.
Opposite him is Naslen’s Eeswaran, a sharp and ruthless criminal who sees Inbaraj as a worthy opponent. Inbaraj answers with the kind of line that sets the film’s tone: “Am I your equal?” Nazriya appears as Maya, and the trailer closes with a comic reference to the Singham films.
Why this one matters
Scene is Jithu Madhavan’s Tamil directorial debut. His last two films, Romancham (2023) and Aavesham (2024), earned him a reputation for oddball characters and genre-mixing energy. Putting Suriya inside that template is the main creative test here—and the trailer suggests the director is not playing it straight.
The music adds to the buzz. Composer Sushin Shyam has already delivered two songs: Aathi Iva Yarraa and the upbeat Aeroplane, which features Suriya and Nazriya. Alongside Suriya, Nazriya, Naslen and Lal, the film also stars Anandraj and Raj Priyan. Suriya and Jyotika produce under Zhagaram Studios and 2D Entertainment.
The political wink that makes the trailer travel
Trailers live and die by shareable moments, and Scene gets one when Inbaraj names his reason for quitting. The film does not have to say Vijay’s name; the context does the work. That kind of topical wink works only when audiences already bring the reference. Here it gives the trailer a second life in fan conversations without taking over the film’s story.
Sharing the trailer on X, Suriya wrote, “Murder. Mystery. Madness… and a whole lot of laughter!” It is a fair summary of the pitch: this is being sold as festive entertainment, not a grim cop drama.
Your Deepavali watchlist
Scene is not arriving alone. If you are planning a festive film outing, here is the box-office picture:
- Scene: Suriya’s 47th film, releasing November 6.
- Mookuthi Amman 2: Nayanthara’s film in the same Deepavali frame.
- Ramayana: Part 1: starring Ranbir Kapoor and Sai Pallavi.
For Hindi-film fans who follow the southern industries, Scene is an easy entry point: a known director, a star lead, and the commercial energy of a festive release. If you want to tune your expectations, Romancham and Aavesham are quick refreshers before November 6, and booking early is sensible in a three-film holiday clash.
