Movie Ratings: 4/5 Stars
Movie Review:
Christopher Nolan is the director who gave us The Dark Knight, Interstellar and Oppenheimer. He is famous for making big movies that feel real. Now, he has taken one of the oldest stories in history ‘Homer’s The Odyssey’ and turned it into a massive movie that feels like a dream. It is loud, beautiful, and very intense.
A Hero Who is Breaking Down

The story follows Odysseus (played by Matt Damon). He has just finished a 10-year war in Troy and wants to go home to his wife, Penelope (Anne Hathaway). But the gods and the sea are against him. Matt Damon is excellent. He doesn’t play a perfect hero; he plays a tired, scarred man who is haunted by the war. While he is lost at sea, his son Telemachus (Tom Holland) is back home trying to protect his mother from men who want to steal their throne. Robert Pattinson plays one of these men, and he is chillingly good.
Real Effects, Not Just CGI
Nolan is known for using real sets instead of just computer graphics (CGI). You can really feel that here. When you see a massive storm at sea, it’s because they actually filmed on the water. When you see the city of Troy burning, it feels hot and dangerous.
Every shot looks perfect. Because it was filmed with special IMAX cameras, the ocean looks like it could swallow you whole. It is a movie which is meant to be seen on the biggest screen possible.

Strong Voices
While the men are fighting and getting lost, the women are the “beating heart”
of the film.
– Anne Hathaway is powerful as the waiting Queen. (She does justice to the writing)
– Zendaya plays Athena, and she is incredible. She acts as the voice of wisdom, calling out the men when they make selfish choices. Even though she has a very limited screentime, the actors make them feel very important.
This is Also a Horror Movie
The most surprising thing about The Odyssey is how scary it is. There is a scene in a cave with a giant monster called the Cyclops that feels like a nightmare. The movie also looks at the “monsters” inside us like guilt and regret. It shows how war changes a person and how hard it is to leave the past behind. It’s not just an adventure; it’s a look at how much a person can suffer before they finally reach home.
The Sound of the Sea
The music and sound are a huge part of the experience. The music uses strange, old-sounding instruments that make you feel like you are in another world. The sound of the wind, the waves, and the monsters is so loud and clear that it pulls you right into the story.

The Verdict
The movie is long; it’s almost three hours. Sometimes it feels a bit slow because there are so many different small stories inside the big one. However, Christopher Nolan is a master at making every second look beautiful.

The Odyssey is a movie about a man trying to find his way back to his family and his own soul. It is a dreamlike, haunting experience that you won’t forget easily. Wait, till you get the best IMAX Screens possible.
