Six months of fear: Kareena and Saif revisit stabbing on KWK9

Kareena Kapoor Khan and Saif Ali Khan are back on the Koffee couch, and this time the conversation goes well beyond filmi banter. In Episode 4 of Koffee With Karan Season 9, the couple revisit the January 2025 attack that left Saif with six stab wounds. The promos have already put that night back in the spotlight.

Kareena says the fear stayed with her long after the surgery. She did not sleep for six months, she says, and she remembers screaming “Ruko, ruko” on the road. “It was like a movie scene,” she adds. Saif describes it as “the worst night in the history of nights.”

What happened that night

In the early hours of January 16, 2025, an unidentified person stabbed Saif Ali Khan at his Mumbai home. The attack was severe enough to require a 2.5-hour neurosurgery and plastic surgery at Lilavati Hospital.

Koffee With Karan rarely sits in real-life trauma for long. The format usually leans on rapid-fire games, blind-item chatter and star teasing. Seeing Kareena and Saif describe an actual home invasion adds a different register to a final season that is already being treated as an event.

The promo also keeps the familiar playfulness alive. Kareena tells Karan she is “happy and relieved” the show is reaching its final season, adding that they do not have to keep coming. Karan replies with mock offence, while Saif says he feels he is “miscast” on the couch.

The Koffee banter is still on

When Karan asks Kareena who the No. 1 actor is among the current lot, Saif jumps in to remind her that she is allowed to praise other actors too. In the gaming round, the couple is asked to name actors beginning with K, and Saif comes up with a random “Kavita” before wondering if someone like that exists.

The episode follows a season that has already hosted Salman Khan, Rashmika Mandanna with Vijay Deverakonda, and Janhvi Kapoor with Varun Dhawan. Saif and Kareena’s hour arrives with a heavier real-life weight, and fans will be watching how the couple balances honesty with the show’s usual silliness.
