Nayyi Navelli holds Rs 2.50 crore lead over Prahaar
Yami Gautam's Nayyi Navelli keeps a Rs 2.50 crore lead over Prahaar after the opening weekend, even as Prahaar posts stronger Sunday growth.

Box office races are decided less by which film opens bigger and more by which film grows when the weekend crowd goes back to work. For now, Yami Gautam’s horror comedy Nayyi Navelli is holding the edge.
Weekend score: a thin lead holds
According to early trade estimates reported by Sacnilk and cited by India Today, Nayyi Navelli collected Rs 4.40 crore nett in India on Sunday, a 10% rise over Saturday’s Rs 4 crore. The film opened at Rs 3.25 crore on Friday, putting its opening-weekend India nett collection at Rs 11.65 crore. India gross stood at Rs 13.88 crore, and worldwide gross reached Rs 15.88 crore.
Prahaar: The Ujjwal Nikam Story, starring Rajkummar Rao and Jaideep Ahlawat, earned Rs 3.65 crore nett on Sunday. That is a 15.9% jump over Saturday’s Rs 3.15 crore. With a Rs 2.35 crore Friday opening, its three-day India nett total came to Rs 9.15 crore. Domestic gross touched Rs 10.86 crore, and worldwide gross was Rs 12.86 crore.
Why the percentage tells the story
The opening weekend belongs to Nayyi Navelli: it leads by Rs 2.50 crore in India nett collections. But Prahaar can claim the more interesting Sunday, because a 15.9% rise shows stronger day-on-day momentum than Nayyi Navelli’s 10%. The gap between the two films is real, but it is not yet a runaway.
One reason the numbers look low: these are India nett estimates, the post-tax domestic collections, rather than the pre-tax gross. Worldwide gross adds the overseas run.
The two films are playing to different moods:
- Nayyi Navelli: a horror comedy led by Yami Gautam, with genre appeal for weekend audiences.
- Prahaar: a courtroom drama by director Avinash Arun, built around public prosecutor Ujjwal Nikam and cases such as the 1993 Bombay blasts and the 2008 Mumbai attacks.
What comes next
A Rs 2.50 crore lead after three days is not huge for films in this bracket, but it matters because first-weekend multiples often set the floor for the week. Nayyi Navelli’s cushion comes from a stronger Friday start; Prahaar’s faster Sunday rise means word of mouth is working. The weekday trend will show which film has the better legs.
Early Monday numbers from Sacnilk were provisional but pointed the same way. Nayyi Navelli had collected Rs 10 lakh nett across 761 shows, nudging its India total to Rs 11.75 crore. Prahaar had collected Rs 6 lakh across 509 shows, moving its total to Rs 9.21 crore. These are small advances while final Day 4 figures are awaited.
If Prahaar keeps growing from Monday to Thursday, the Rs 2.50 crore gap could shrink quickly. If Nayyi Navelli’s genre keeps pulling crowds, the horror comedy may keep a comfortable edge as both films compete against Jailer 2, Ranabaali and Hollywood titles such as Social Reckoning, Prime Time and Heart of the Beast.
